Marciano wears him down, out and stops him. This ain't no Tommy Burns.

Horrible fight for both. Would be an awful mess. With a gun to my head...i'd pick whoever's rules the fight is fought under:D

One of these guys went 9rds with Rocky, the other went 10rds to a split dec in their 1st fight, and into the 11th rd in their second.

Come forward sluggers ,like McVey, and Langford were Jack's meat.

I have a feeling Jack would do considerably better than either of the two shown here.

The best weapon against a crouching swarmer is the uppercut.Jack's was world class.

I can Johnson cutting up and swelling Marciano something fierce... Johnson was too good at countering or smoothering fighters who constantly pushed forward. I see this ending by Doctor Stoppage or nasty majority decision for JJ

Yet, as we have already deciphered in numerous other conversations, Langford was 150+ pounds for their bout. And seriously, seeing footage of McVea, he possesses little to no science, winging single shots while leaping into a clinch. Neither of these fighters at the stage they met Johnson was analogous to the wrecking ball that was a prime Marciano.

And regarding Lastarza I and Cockell, you know very well you picked two of Rocky's worst performances, one when he was green (shall I mention the Choynski affair?) and one when, well, when he simply had a bad training camp and a bad night. It is supposed to happen once or twice a career.

The key to this fight would be in the clinches. While Jack was very strong, stronger than his size would suggest, Marciano was a tank with not only great strength but great stamina, i.e. he carried that strength well into the late rounds. I see Johnson having some early success and keeping close in rounds until 5 or 6 when Marciano's hitting power would start to take effect along with his strength in the clinches. Marciano KO11 Johnson.

Hm, Johnson eats come forward fighters but is vulnerable to fightes with a high workrate. Marciano is both. Very interesting fight. Can´t pick a winner.

Who was even the best heavyweight Johnson ever faced? A 153 lb Langford? A ghost of Jim Jeffries?

Are any of these as good as Charles, Walcott, Moore or even an old ass Joe Louis?

Also, how much better is Marciano than Marvin Hart?

Johnson's best scalp isn't as good as Rocky's, but that's not relevant.

Marciano is better than Hart, but Johnson got better than he was when he faced Hart, for me.

I agree with this Bodhi. Very interesting fight. Jack Johnson had a lethal uppercut, and was very physically strong in the clinches. Marciano won't be able to manhandle him on the inside.

Johnson got better when he faced fighters who weren't as good as Hart. Seems rather obvious.

McVey possessed little or no science? How much science do you think Rocky possessed?

Green ? Marciano had 25 fights when he fought Lastarza the first time ,hardly a novice.

Stamina? Jack went 26rds against a giant , in tropical heat when he was 37.

He beat top contender Frank Moran over 20rds when he was fat as a pig and 36years old.
He beat fringe contender Tom Cowler over 15rds when he was 41.

I think he might manage 15rds in an indoor stadium, when he was prime.Mr Cream took Marciano 13rds and was in front when he was stopped , a past it Charles gave Marciano a very hard fight that went the distance , why shouldn't a prime Jack do as good,or better?

Marciano was floored by two 38 year olds , on the verge of being tko stopped by Charles in their first fight, and in danger against Keene Simmons.
Strength does not beat Johnson, he readily gave ground in fights, power might, but you have to land it, for it to be effective. Its entirely possible that Rocky grinds down Jack, its also entirely possible that Jack cuts him to bits, imo.
