What is available, is there enough to form an opinion?

Mcvey for a significant while was considered by many to be the second best fighter in the world at heavyweight. Whats next, more bulll**** about plough hands and undersized farm boys?

Couple of more posts and you might be able to work in child bearing hips yet again.:patsch
Different day, but same old ****.

    Nice erudite reply.

There is this. Or instead of reviewing this evidence do you want to declare it insufficient and then open the gates of speculation for any style you choose to apply to Sam. Or you could take Langford's observations of McVea being a guy relying on an extended left and retreating around the ring.

    Or you could hurl insults.

McVea was a big, powerful heavyweight who relied more upon his brute strength than slick boxing skills; He was strong, quick and game; Sam fought mostly "name" black fighters during his career

Less than 7 minutes of footage.
I didn't say he was a Marciano clone. Langford's observations fly in the face of those of.Johnson,Jeannette and Wills.

Jeannette must have repeatedly run into that extended left to have suffered so many knockdowns against McVey.
It's a wonder he didnt wise up after the first 3 or 4?

I think you will find Langford said that after their 1920 bout when McVey was 36 years old.

Not that it matters, I've never found Langford too reliable in his reminicencies. I hardly hurled insults at you ,anyway I've got the flu so f**k off.
    Now that's an insult.

Marciano pressure was something that Johnson never had to deal with, he faced power punchers like Langford and Choynski etc., but nothing in way of the rhythm breaking and unorthodox 2 fisted power that would be coming from the Brockatonian Blockbuster. Marciano works his way to a late KO 10-15 no sun in Johnson's eyes here

Johnson won't be 37 years old either.
    PS It's Brockton not Brockatonian.

    Thank you ^_^
I'm currently pursing a career in boxing. I'm taking baby steps towards getting in shape and really raising my boxing intelligence before I step in the ring.

And now back on Subject. :thumbsup

Marciano would have the strength and stamina to thwart the usual attempts by Jack to stop the other man working. Jack was an expert at neutralising the other fellow, sapping his energy then coming on once the man was either frustrated to the point of making a mistake or exhausted. The point where Jack would finaly make his offensive mood might never come!

This would be ugly. Could be Tyson v Bonecrusher all over again. Johnson has to fight to win and I don't see his subtle water torture making an impression. Marciano will get his hands free. That's Jack's problem.

How dare you refer to blown up light heavyweight and pusing 34 year old Charles with over 100 bouts on his record past his prime .. ?

no kidding Brockton and Johnson wouldn't be fighting 36 yr old Jeffries who had to lose 100lbs with no tune-up and off for 5 years

I seen films of Langford and that BS, Marciano brought pressure and a style and power that was not around in Sammy's day

:good I agree, Johnson's awkward tactics, the pure spoiling only works if it tires out the other man. Rocky won't tire. Johnson will want to hold Rocky close, but that's where Rocky wants to be.

A bizarre stylistic matchup. I would tend to think Rocky might be too inaccurate or clumsy for Johnson, but an excellent case is made here for him.
