Assuming Toney is motivated. Marciano wins, 9/10 times I would think, don't know if he would stop Toney. JT has such good head movement and ability to stand in the pocket, but I think Rocky would just take that as an invitation to go to the body. Toney could hurt Rocky enough to get respect, but would not have the power to stop him. They are about the same height, but Rocky is much more lean muscle at that weight. I think it might be a good, if not great fight, but this is an excellent example of a fighter with limited gifts who had to will himself to win (and did) vs a fighter who had all the gifts, and was often lazy and lost. I could see this eventually becoming Toney doing enough to avoid getting hurt too much, but not winning. I don't see Rocky doing so well against really big heavies (i.e. the in shape at 6-4 240# + crowd), he is essentially a cruiser, but I would be very surprised to see him lose to any man his own size or even slightly larger.
Horrible style matchup for Toney. Hes in deep deep water here. If a young Toney thought Tiberi was busy whats he going to think of a heavy handed non stop Marciano?
Marciano gives Toney a messy and untidy going over, resorting to low blows and hitting after the bell in his frustration at not being able to get him out of there. Toney counters effectively, but is unable to either hurt ,or halt Marcianos' relentless juggernaut offence. Afterwards the scores are unanimous for Rocky ,but he is pilloried in the press. Rocky is characteristically honest at the post fight conference: "He made me look like a bum in there, it was worse than the Lowry fights"
James can't sit in the pocket with that dude. I just see JT doing a lot of going backwards... Just can't see Rocky losing this one...
James didn't have the speed or workrate at 190 that he did when he was at middle and super middle. But I don't see a stoppage here either. Marciano by decision.
