Deep down Walcott was relieved the referee called it. He had the one last great fight in the previous bout. Here he was already down with a guy that hit you in places you didn't know you had. Joe could never admit or imply he was ok with the stoppage.
    Similar to Arguello/Pryor 2.

Joe was doing the oldest trick in the book.

Wait til it’s a split-second too late to get up and then complain about it.

He tasted Rocky’s power in the previous fight and wanted no part of any more … just the payday please and thank you. He got nailed early and noped the heck out.

Still the best tribute I've ever seen on Marciano...

Marciano knocked Walcott down with a right uppercut that he had been practising in the gym for weeks.Walcott got a full count. Walcott's cornermen said he was a "dead man walking" before the fight and that he froze up in the dressing and would not talk at all when they tried to discuss tactics. After he was counted out Walcott got up and was seemingly unconcerned,he only began to pantomime outrage when he heard all the booing.I'm sure he elected to stay down.Walcott's body tone was not as it had been in their first fight, imo his heart was not in it.It's a shame that after such a stirring effort in their first bout he went out like that.

And he got a bigger purse than the now champion Marciano.

Yeah, my dad's deep into a lot of conspiracy theory **** and dribbles over when we watch fights. It's kind of annoying sometimes, ha ha.

I think Walcott was lucky he stayed down. Look at his fulfilling life afterwards as sheriff and boxing commissioner. He could've taken way more punishment had he best the count.

Does he still think Marciano Layne was fix after what we said about Marciano smashing his teeth in with a pic as proof lol. Over all I can sort of buy the Walcott fix here a little. But to get the whole pic here, you need to understand what went down in fight 1. Walcott gave everything in that fight, hitting Marciano, taking punishment in return, trading blows for blows with the Rock, and he still came up short. I really think Walcott was going though the "Motions" here. Marciano got a decent hit in, and Walcott went down and got counted out. I think there is a reason why this was Walcott's last fight and he really did not push for a 3rd fight with Marciano. He was pretty much ready to retire. I am pretty sure he could of push for a 3rd fight if he wanted to.

I actually never told my dad about Layne's teeth.
I totally agree, I think neither was a fix.

Yep, I agree mate. I was just been a bit daft there.
I've always thought that. That, Jersey Joe, had just had enough.
More than likely thought ',oh sod this for a game of soldiers'.
He'd taken enough in his career to know to get out.

What must be understood is Walcott was old and no longer needed boxing. The happier you are the more punches tend to hurt. He could get up and endure all the savagery of the first fight or he could shamelessly embrace the crowd under the lights and wait for the life he earned to start.

Look how happy he is, wife, family and hanging out with the Rock on his TV show.
