Did Marciano ever faced a southpaw ? Just asking, can“t remember... I can see rocky hitting Calzaghe with a right hand.
calzaghe wouldn't even budge marciano, but maybe he could last a few rounds if he stayed away long enough.
no chance for rocky here... joe was too big and too strong for him, rocky was a natural fly weight, plus calzaghe was a great gardener, he would win by ko and after of the fight he would give rocky a flower.
Calz prob lasts a few rounds if he runs for his life. Even then, Rocky would hunt him down eventually. If Calz actually stood his ground, it would be over quickly and brutally.
This would resemble Roy Jones-Vinnie Pazienza. Calzaghe would be darting in and out, throwing pitty-pat flurries as fast as he could before clinching or dancing away. Marciano delivers his blows here and there, patiently weakening Joe. Calzaghe actually wins the first 2 or 3 rounds. Rocky hits him with a crippling blow in the fourth and finishes him in the fifth. Rocky is barely breathing heavy and hasn't broken a sweat.
Calzaghe spent his whole career bar 2 fights at 168, so wouldn't exactly be prime at 175. That said, Rocky would be too "big" and too powerful.
Besides the question of class, this styles match-up does not favor Calzaghe. His opponent is not smaller than he, and Calzaghe's habit of squaring up and fighting back when hurt would work against him here. Calzaghe was not a runner, he has absolutely no chance of using his footwork to take a decision here. Calzaghe looks good for a few rounds, the next he looks up -- at the strobe lights.
