Morrison probably holds the title for greatest left hook of the Heavies imo, I cant think of one that was better executed. Smoking Joe's was lethal, but not as fast, Wlad's was heavy as they come, but Morrison if he had anything it was that whiplash left hook, it was a beauty, well disguised, could shorten it and it was still brutal

Yes and I know it as well.

The reality however is that no champion fights every contender who deserves a title shot, and I think that it ceases to be a serious omission, if they beat the person who beat them.

Hypothetically, if Tua couldn't put him away, Corbett would likely take the decision.

    That is one possible outcome.

The other is that Tua catches Corbett at some point and stops him.

Either way Corbett is not stupid, and he is obviously going to get on his bicycle.

You are one of the guys always telling the rest of us that Marciano always defended against his number one contenders,I just proved that he didn't.

He defended against one man who was not the current #1 contender.

That is as good as it gets for a champion with more than a couple of title defenses.

    The name is...
Nino Valdes! A quick look at Valdes' boxing record shows just how
incompetent Russ Anber really is. He conveniently forgets to mention
that in 1952-1953, Valdes lost 4 fights in a row. So you can decide
for yourself if Marciano was afraid of him. Also, Valdes was beaten
twice by Archie Moore, once in 1953 and once in 1955. The truth is,
for anyone who does some research, that Marciano was probably
considering a fight with Valdes in 1955, but chose Moore when he saw
him beat Valdes for the second time. That Marciano ducked Nino Valdes
is the most ridiculous sports statement ever made in public.

Still not convinced how unprofessional Russ Anber is?
Also Valdes beat Ezz by tough Ud!
Marciano beat Ezz in theor first biut and knocked hin iut in second!

Okay how Rahman have more power in his right more than Marciano who had 2nd strongest right after Baer!
Did Rahman really knocked anyone with that right hand other than Lewis?
Also how many people Rahman knocked threw ropes with right hand!
Did any Rahman knockout can compete qith KO of Walcott and Louis?
    I don't think so!
Rahman had heavier hands than Baer?Bunch of nonsense!
Just watch Baer vicious KOs and remmember he killed 2 man with that right!
So Rahman punched harder than Baer right because he is heavier? That's like to said Tyson Fury has harder jab than Liston or Foreman because is heavier!

I never mentioned Russ Anber and have never heard of him.
I never said ,implied ,or suggested Marciano was afraid of Valdes .What I said was Valdes was the number onecontender in December 1953 and December 1954 which is absolutely correct.
At no time did Marciano's brain trust consider a fight with Valdes they did not want him period.
Nobody, least of all me, has said Marciano ducked Valdes. Research? I'd bet you £5000 that I know more about Marciano than you do.

Baer killed Frankie Campbell.Earnie Schaaf died because he had recently had a severe case of influenza. The punch that did the damage to finish
    Louis was a left hook.

Baer did not kill a sparring partner. If you say he did name him?
Nope I said Al Weill did not want Marciano to fight Valdes and you wont find a post of mine saying Marciano did not want to fight him.
    Valdes was the
NUMBER ONE CONTENDER IN DECEMBER 1953
NUMBER ONE CONTENDER IN DECEMBER 1954
That's two out of two you got wrong ,I know you wont admit it though.

I said the punch that did the damage to finish Louis was a left hook which is correct.

Do you have reading comprehension problems?I could type it in caps if you like?

"First he knocked Louis down with a short left hook to the jaw.Louis waited out the count on one knee, then got to his feet ,trying to fight back.
But he was done.Sensing the kill,Marciano swarmed over him wild eyed, and open mouthed.Louis had a temporary reprieve when Marciano missed with a flurry of haymakers. Then he connected with two more left hooks that effectively finished Louis.
In the dressing room after the fight,Marciano would raise his left hand and proclaim," I knew this was going to do it,that was the baby that did the job."
Louis agreed that;"it was his left that set me up,that one did the trick". "Rocky Marciano The Rock Of His Times" By Russell Sullivan.
What was that you were saying about research?

Nope he only killed Campbell.no sparring partner ,and Schaaf died because he was in a diminished condition from a bad case of influenza. After losing a spit dec to Unknown Winston,2 months after the Baer fight ,he kod him in the rematch ,a month after that he stopped Stanley Poreda, then he fought Carnera.

    From Box rec.
"In fact, Schaaf had suffered a bout of influenza leading up to the fight and was in a weakened state."

You're not doing too well are you?

Tua would be the most durable, arguably quickest and undeniably hardest hitter he would ever have faced.
220lbs prime, conditioned with a record breaking work rate calculated aggression and a style unseen in Corbett’s era he would walk through Jim be real Jan.
