rocky marciano vs larry holmes

This is the same guy that said Holmes went "life and death" with Witherspoon...

He also just said he really lost to Witherspoon...

I'd say anyone who saw that fight would say Holmes won by a mile...

 

We can argue forever about who Holmes fought and whether or not he dominated etc..But it's all irrelevant. Holmes at his best beats Marciano at his best. Too much height reach and speed...Not to mention one of the best jabs in HW history. Marciano's only chance is by ko and I don't see it happening. Holmes is no Layne or Cockell or Savold. He is a big tall mobile HW with excellent skills and a long reach with a potent jab attached to the end of it. Rocky would have that jab in his face all night. Something he wasn't really used to facing with regularity. Plus Larry wouldn't stand in front of him. He would be on the move and Marciano wouldn't catch him. Stylewise this fight is all wrong for Rocky. As good as Rocky was in his own era I just don't see a man under 6' with a 68 inch reach beating a prime Holmes no matter how tough. Marciano's not big enough and fast enough to get it done. Holmes by decision.

Witherspoon fought Holmes to a close fight actually.

I had Holmes winning virtually every round. Witherspoon did **** in that fight. He even had him hurt at some point midway, but didn't do **** with the opportunity...

I had the scorecard around my computer desk, but I think my wife got to it. Just watched a couple of weeks ago.

 

Found it- 118-110 Holmes

I gave the 7th and the 9th to Tim.

The 9th is where he had Holmes hurt and did absolutely nothing...

The official scorecards were: 118-111, 114-115, and 115-113.

I guess I agreed with the first judge.

I just don't see it. He got nothing done. Holmes controlled everything in that fight. He landed the harder, cleaner shots, threw more, landed more...

It wasn't an ass-kicking either way, it was an uneventful fight. Holmes was simply much better.

Just my opinion.

 

I think Marciano finishes the fight ,but I agree with the rest of this post.
Holmes had ridiculous powers of recuperation.
The shot Shavers nailed him with ,sent pins and needles right down to his foot, seconds later the guy is fighting back, he should have been dead.

 

Holmes by either decision or cuts related stoppage .. too big and too good ..

 

Holmes wins on cuts in 8 rounds. Holmes, jab alone would beat Marciano. Holmes, is in another class.

 

"The Homer" of 1980 is too tall, skilled, quick, tuff and accurate to be beaten by 1953 Marciano... Marciano is game throughout, but out-boxed and sliced to ribbons by round 12....... Holmes TKO 13 Marciano........
