Looked like he had zero problem letting his hands go. If there is another recommended fight you think I should watch of his I will. I’ve seen a lot of Holmes fights but it’s been awhile and to be honest it’s what I remembered of him. Still hold to my point until I see something better. He couldn’t land on Norton at all in the crouch and Norton countered ok but def different then Marciano would have done. Holmes did the best he could that fight and deserves credit for winning a tough close match. But nothing about it tells me he beats Marciano who was a tier above Norton.

He was full of painkillers, its well documented in several books. His surgeon recommended he withdraw.

Rocky Marciano is so crude and small that I would pick most middleweights today to beat him. GGG would knock out Marciano in a few rounds. I know what you will type now. But GGG is smaller than Marciano. Wait I thought weight classes didn't matter. I guess they only matter when I benefits you keep typing Rocky Marciano, Gene Tunney, and Jack Dempsey could beat modern sized heavyweights.

The funny thing is if you people actually thought like grown people you would understand this. Rocky Marciano couldn't beat natural 160 pound Ted Lowry. He couldn't handle the power from 160 pound Ted Lowry. Ted Lowry had to carry Marciano to avoid knocking him out. Wouldn't logic dictate the much middleweights like Roy Jones Jr ect would of finished where Lowry started?

In any case if Marciano would of made out of the first round with Larry Holmes he should get down on his knees and thank whatever God he believed in. If 190 pound Marvis Frazier couldn't make it far with Larry Holmes then Marciano would of lost just as bad.

Anyone floor Holmes with a body shot? He took Cooney's left hook to the body, even a couple of low ones without going down.

Holmes lost to Spinks when he was 35&36years old,Spinks is 6' 2 1/2"and weighed 200 and 205lbs for those fights.
He would have been the biggest man of any class who was anywhere near his prime that Marciano ever fought!

Hmm kayo victory. Larry got up after THAT right hand by Shavers and Marciano did NOT hit as hard as that imo...I respectfully agree to disagree.

Both Norton and Holmes were boxing Gods in that fight...it was what it was, and more than a few people righteously think that was the best hwt fight ever.

Sure, Larry probably would have stopped Ken if he hadn't had his torn biceps. But DAMN did he look good, anyway.

As opposed to an unbulked up one like Moore,Mathews ,and Charles? How about bulked up as in fat Cokkell?

Yes like a fat cockell. Charles and Moore were also bulked up...but they were better fighters and failed to win. Unless you’d pick Spinks to beat those two? I wouldn’t bet on it.

Well...to me, given the style Michael employed to (sort of) beat Larry in the first fight might be effective. To me Michael's game plan was to present a revolving door of styles...anything to confuse Larry. So it would probably have done the job against some of the contenders of the time. I think Thomas and Witherspoon would have beat Michael, perhaps Page too.

As far as Ezzard Charles...Charles was an actual ATG heavyweight, Michael was an ATG light-heavy. Charles outslicks him badly in a maniacally boring 15 rounder.

Spinks of the Holmes fights would beat the versions of those 2 that Marciano fought
