Always found that to be a meaningless blanket statement. Louis, Holyfield. And Ali can claim to have fought just as many or more. And a lot of these big punchers like Tua, Golota, Ruddock, Morrison...really didn't land anything on him. I don't recall Bruno loading up but could be wrong... He did show reliable durability against Vitali, Mercer, Holyfield, and Briggs. Though three I would hardly classify as huge punchers and one was a horrible finisher.
Swagdelfadeel is right. Too bad Lewis was never relegated to fighting 38 year old cruiser weights...If he had been, his chin would be as proven as Marciano's.
He didn't go through those fights untouched.. It's true that ruddock was dispatched before he could land anything significant but most of the other guys nailed him at some point or another. Regardless he fought more punchers than anyone and best them and that includes Ali.
Thank you dude. All of you (not you Mongoose) are just a bunch of Lewis nuthuggers who think the man can do anything. He can't! All of you have ruined Lewis for what he really was.
First of all Lewis came in fourth in that mythical match up losing to Foreman and while there's zero shame in losing to Foreman there's a ring magazine l'm looking at called "the 50 greatest fights you never saw" (2003) and it pits Lewis against Foreman and has Lewis winning by KO in the 10th. So my expert trumps your expert.
again, your definition for glass chin is confused, Joe didn't have the strongest of chins for a heavy, it is true, however, if Joe had a glass chin he would not have become the champ he became. Have you been in a gym and knocked out? I have, more than once. That said I have also taken many good shots and not flinched. The point is some shots if they hit you at the perfect angle, with perfect timing at the perfect force with all of two individuals leverage working together correctly, well your lights will go out. You sound like someone that hasn't had his lights knocked out in the gym at any sort of trained level, thus you sound to me like a fellow that is clueless to what it is to have a glass chin. No offense, just speaking my mind, I am not calling you stupid, I am accusing you of being confused and ignorant which is not a crime :good
What are you talking about? Ali fought three hardest punchers of all time in Liston, Shavers, and Foreman. He also fought Joe Frazier, Ron Lyle, Jerry Quarry, Zora Folley, Cleveland Williams, Bob Foster, Floyd Patterson, Mac Foster, George Chuvalo, Oscar Bonavena, Henry Cooper, Sonny Banks, etc. All of these guys could bang.
you're obsessed with fighters having glass chins which leads me to think you've never boxed, am i right???
that's not just better, its what you call more accurate :good was that really so hard :rasta when your saying glass chin you are talking about a guy who cant make it up the ladder because of he cant take a shot :deal for instance that poor fella "Price" if you said he had a glass chin I couldn't argue as at the higher levels he couldn't take a good shot.
Bullsh*t. Ali faced some damn good punchers but not like the depth that Lewis faced... Mason, Weaver, Ruddock, Bruno, McCall, Morrison, Briggs, Grant, Tua, Rahman, Tyson, Vitali... And Ali was KD'd by non-entities and/or non-heavies like Sonny Banks and 'Enery Cooper.
Once again, you try to change my argument. The point was in all the fight advantages, Lewis never had the advantage in the chin department. I look forward to seeing your attempt to change the subject, or just completely ignore it like you do every time someone calls you out on your bull****.
You can't justify Lewis losing every mythical fight he's in because of his chin and then say he only won because the big punches weren't able to test it. Because then perhaps that would be the case against all those other fighters.
