That's a good point.. Some of these guys would pick Lewis to drop dead if any guy with remote power even let out a fart. But the fact that he beat about 15-20 guys with well above average power seems to be totally immaterial to them..
1. Hopefully for better reason than chatting with a bunch of guys here. 2. That depends on what you call greatness and what you consider as being a lug.
I actually favored him in a thread. But no you were to busy trolling, and making up biased lies to see it.
i got dropped by a shot to the temple in sparring and had a tooth knocked out by the same lad. The beatings i took the body were worse than any i got in a fight. And these lads are your mates hahaha
According to the lore of old timers. Do you really think that Liston punched much harder than Morrison or Tua or Grant or Ruddock? Liston was a better boxer for sure and a much more complete boxer... even tho he was older when he met Clay/Ali. But did he really punch harder than those guys? And Earnie Shavers was the Butterbean of his day, a guy who sold out with every swing but was exposed repeatedly.
The same can be said for: 1. Earnie shavers - one dimensional and mostly relied on his right hand.. Known for poor stamina, weak chin and who most of his victims were either washed up or had losing records. 2. Sonny Liston - washed up, has been argued to be older than his reported age.. Only saw one round of boxing within nearly two years of fighting Ali. Quit in the first fight and possibly threw second fight. 3. George foreman - poor defense, bad stamina, slow moving and had very little exposure to the late rounds. Possibly suffered from heat prostration in his fight with Ali. 4. Ken Norton - more of a boxer than a puncher. No real stoppages of anyone known for durability or who was prime, but hey he at least broke Ali's jaw ( knocks on wood. ) 5. Ron Lyle - how many ranked men did he stop again ? 6. Mac foster - if his record was anymore padded he could have been a mattress salesman. 7. Jerry quarry - more of a counter puncher really but hey I guess he could crack for a guy who was under 200 lbs. 8. Floyd Patterson - past prime and basically a cruiser weight with a weak chin and a bad back for his first fight with Ali.. 9. Henry cooper - seriously ? NOTE: I realize this isn't the whole reality of these fighters and some of them really WERE significant hitters.. But my point is that anyone can be torn apart.. Anyone..
Teeth are overrated anyway hahaha.how long ago did you box ?? I met another coach at a show recently id boxed in 1978, we are both 57 now

i boxed and sparred for about 4 years and boxed a few matches in a period of a year, got knocked out bad and quit, i still kept training/coaching for a year or so after but only against people i was a lot better than, lol, yeah, i have a lot of respect for boxers that can take a shot, even if i wasn't knocked down i would still go home with headaches and wake up feeling hung over the next day, lol, try telling that to a hard core trainer, they would laugh you out of the gym :rasta i didn't feel bad about my decision, humble yes but not bad, i know for a fact i couldn't of gone very far with the chin i had, lol, even at the low levels some guys just have that ability to take a solid shot and not get dazed, plus its not all about toughness as some guys can be tough as hell with no quit but if their lights go out that's it.
i can't understand some peoples obsession with a glass chin as though its your own fault ??? I remember an amateur from Preston who was boxing a mate of mine one night. This lad had been told one more ko loss and he'd lose his medical card. I admired his bottle and even though i wanted my mate to win i didn't want a ko win.
1. Earnie Shavers didn't really have a weak chin. It was his stamina. 2. I agree both fights were fixed but Liston was still a great all round boxer. 3. It's Foreman. George ****ing Foreman. 4. He stopped Ron Stander in the first round. Ron Stander had a great chin. He could even take punches from Earnie Shavers. 5. Lyle holds notable wins over Buster Mathis, Oscar Bonavena, Jimmy Ellis, Earnie Shavers, Joe Bugner and Scott LeDoux. 6. 30 kos out of 30 wins. :think 7. I agree, though he still hit pretty damn hard! He knocked Earnie Shavers the **** out in one round. Something nobody else has ever done (not even Lyle). 8. His KOs over Ingemar were magificent. Especially his Gazelle punch, he even rocked Quarry and even Chuvalo himself! 9. Remember Enry's old ammer? That was hard as ****. He also knocked out Brian London in one round. Henry Cooper did what The three hardest punchers in boxing history failed to do in flooring Ali.
