It's not just that ... Rocky was a much better fighter ... two handed power , combination punching, conditioning, heart, desire .. simply different classes ...
Yes he did, and he may well be the hardest puncher of all the heavyweight champions, but Moore's marksmanship was superior. (Hatchetman Sheppard seemed to be telling Rocky Alkazoff that the order of power was 1) Max Baer, 2) Louis, 3) Moore and 4) JJW, among those he either sparred with or competed against.) It'll be interesting to see how many others agree with us about this. To a casual fan, the idea of Rocky-Maxie going the limit might come across as sheer madness, but both were extremely durable. Max was only dropped in his 50th fight by Louis, and in his career ending 80th fight by Nova, when he was all in.
Yep, Archie was quite a bit better in landing punches at the right place at the right time than Max. Alkazoff seems to think quite high of Walcott as a puncher. While I know he could punch I never saw him as a puncher, well, not as one who punches much harder than say Charles or Ali. Well, chin, stamina and power combined with the ability to land unexpected punches go a long way. Baer would be a dangerous fight for most hws IMO.
