Rocky Marciano vs Mike Tyson

Timing. Show me Tyson throwing punches and missing by whole feet stumbling off balance. Mcvey even posted a clip where he falls to the ground from the force of his own punch.

'Could' and 'did' are two different words.
At worst I was a little too charitable with my statement.
Doesn't change the fact that Rocky was the busiest fighter in HW history.

I never accused Tyson of falling off balance when throwing punches so this is a strange line of questioning. Is falling over from throwing a punch an objective measure of how good a fighters timing is? That seems like more of a test for balance and/or accuracy which I would give to Tyson. Any fighter can miss a punch and fall off balance.
I never saw Tyson throw three consecutive left hooks and KO his opponent.

 

So you have no footage of Tyson's timing looking this bad.

You could make a case for Dempsey and maybe Frazier but not Tyson. He was far busier than Tyson.

 

Rocky fans are so devoted to their man ... again, I started a thread a while back asking "why" and got some good explanations, I understand it, I really do ... that they're going to twist themselves into contortions to find a way that he doesn't end up bleeding, unconscious and twitching on the canvas in this matchup, with the aura of invincibility removed from him for all time. Which would be the outcome, IMO.

 

I doubt Tyson would need 3 left hooks to ko179lbs Mathews! lol

I think you'll remember that Tyson fell over after missing a punch in the Bonecrusher fight.

Perhaps not. But the ability to throw them consecutively would be evidence of good timing which is what I was arguing with GlassCity

 

Tyson didn’t throw a lot of punches Rocky n Frazier prob threw a third more punches. He was busier then Dempsey and Frazier was about equal. Butttt he was busier meaning he never stopped moving, punching, shoving, wrestling, etc. he had better stamina then Frazier. Tyson was more accurate than all of them. Saved himself for quick bursts as opposed to nonstop demolition. Maybe he couldn’t w all that extra weight on him

actually after checking the numbers Frazier was the most accurate and he actually threw one more punch a round then Marciano. But they both threw about 15 more punches a round then Tyson. I’d wager Marciano threw more power punches a round than Frazier but I don’t have that stat. I still don’t change my stance that Marciano was busier because he was. Always pressing
(Dempsey only threw two more punches a round then Tyson)

 

You did when you failed to show me Tyson looking as sloppy as the Rocky clips I showed you. Back up your claim Rocky had better accuracy or shut up.
