Well, he didn't actually consult me, so you'll have to ask him that.

That's not how it works. If you want to claim something happened, you need to have some evidence of it. If I say that Frankie Daniels was fired as Marciano's sparring partner for being too rough, it's not enough for me to say, "Well, you can't prove it didn't happen."

Well no, at some point it swings the other way. I posted an article the other day in which they talked about being in talks with Valdez, so it seems that there probably were some negotiations.

 

Rocky Marciano was an explosive brawler with a high workrate in his prime, and evolved into a swarmer later into his career due to having reoccurring back injuries and having less desire to train.

Also on a side note, swarmers can beat people who are larger and stronger than them. Oscar Bonavena couldn't box well and had poor ring in. Marciano actually had a functional defense and good inside fighting skills. Bonavena wouldn't be able to abuse his size against someone as good as Marciano.

To my knowledge there are zero primary sources confirming ANY title shot offer to Valdes from Marciano's team.

If you have a verified source to the contrary ,produce it,otherwise stop talking **** and trying to pass it off a confirmation of a title offer.

Provide a primary source that there was ever a verified serious offer to Valdes for a title shot made by Marciano's team?

 

We probably have to take our lead from both men's records.

Bonavena gave some great fighters competitive fights, but his resume is a bit thin in terms of elite wins.

Marciano was the all conquering Roman, against what could be fielded against him at the time.

Realistically you are going to make Marciano the betting favorite.
