Rocky Marciano vs RJJ

We were talking about these fighters in general, not about versions that Rocky faced.

 

Whom might those be ?

 

Ezzard Charles
Sam Langford
Michael Spinks

Maybe Archie Moore (he struggled with speed, but I think he was simply too good), Bob Fitzsimmons (again, he struggled with speed but I don't think Roy's chin is good enough), Gene Tunney, Tommy Gibbons, Bob Foster... Roy isn't as amazing LHW as you think

 

I don't see Marciano being able to catch Roy. Roy wins a decision.

 

Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore are good boxers, but Roy still edges them.
Michael Spinks will be a bit trickier, but Roy still wins.
Bob Foster more than has the power, but I doubt he'll be able to land a big one.
Roy dances circles against Tunney.
All Gibbons and Langford can do is to pray, Roy makes them look like amateurs.
And please don't mention Fitzsimmons, he was born in the 1800s, for ****s sake. My granpa could put up a better fight than he would.
Fitzsimmons is a joke compared to someone like Roy (I'm talking about H2H, not legacy). Every decent modern amateur will beat the crap out of Fitzsimmons. Roy can fight him with arm behind his back and he still wins. Fitzsimmons won't be able to lay a glove on Roy, not a single one, it will be the most embarrassing night of his life.

 

I'm not interested in discussions with people who use arguments like these ones.

 

That's a pretty good analogy. I think it could definitely resemble that fight, except Rocky probably ends things a little sooner, maybe the 9th or 10th. Roy would be far ahead but he will have taken far too much built up damage to finish the fight on his feet.

 

Thanks. As always, hard comparing eras. However Rocky landing flush on Roy is bound to happen and it would sap Jones and inevitably put him to sleep around the 10th most likely.

 

No it's not bound to happen at all. Roy will run rings around poor ol' Marciano, who would hit nothing but air.

 

You know that Roy got hit by far, far lesser fighters than Marciano right?

 

Now, lets replace with Marciano... Do people honestly think Marciano wouldn't land one like this?

I think people watch the Roy Jones and Mike Tyson highlights (which are awesome) and forget they were human from time to time. Not saying that’s the case here but stating Marciano wouldn’t land a glove on him is a little to much in fantasy land

 

They might be lesser fighters achievements wise, but that doesn't mean they were also slower.

 

Ruiz was both worse and slower.

 

RM won't be landing anything just like that unless he becomes, taller, quicker, and a southpaw.
