If he came in at 160 I think Sam would have the explosiveness to take Rocky out of there very early but I’m not confident he’d have the punch resistance to take what Rocky gives out for too long. Maybe it’d be more optimal for Sam to come in at a bit bigger? He still kept some of his speed against Jeannette at 185lbs

For the sake of argument, I agree Sam reached his peak at between 158 and 165, but IMO the weight does matter and Langford at 158-165 is not going to defeat a 185 Marciano. Langford may have won the heavyweight title at 158 pounds in your mind, but not in the record books or in anyone else's version of reality. Methinks you only weaken your argument by grasping at non-existent straws.

I think we need to both go our separate ways.

Marcianos got the shortest reach of any HW contender. He can hit hard but was he more dangerous then a Schreck or Lang? I think not.

Langford needed the weight not to deal with power but to deal with long wars with Harry Wills who was much bigger then him. Langford won't be getting into a long war with Marciano.

Dead British people would disagree with you. Langford won the HW title and its the people who pretend otherwise who are living in their own reality not the other way around. Acting like winning the championship of the British Empire is something that happened in the mind of "HistoryZero26" is sheer modernist arrogance. To much of the world Langford was their champion it is not me grasping for straws it is an accurate telling of the story.
