An excellent post. Backed up with plausible footage against faster handed fighters than Sonny Liston and one just as big.
Perhaps Rocky can swing a giant collection of lists written by or voted by nostalgic white dudes (all done during a period of Black Domination of the division) at Liston's head. That might give him the one advantage he is looking for. Anyone who takes seriously a top ten heavy list that includes Tunney is deluded beyond salvation.
Yeah, those nostalgic old white dudes had a real thing for Jack Johnson and Sam Langford and Joe Louis.
Jack Johnson Jim Jeffries Bob Fitzsimmons Jack Dempsey Jim Corbett Joe Louis Sam Langford Gene Tunney Max Schemling Rocky Marciano Fleischer's list, compiled in 1972, is 7 white dudes, 4 of whom drew the color line. Now, THAT is woke!
It's a bad list but skin colour is not the relevant thing that jumps out at me there. 7 of those guys turned professional before 1920, and 4 of them were fighting in the 19th century. It's got old timer bias written all over it. Marciano deserves to be higher, against that field, and against any top 10 you care to come up with pre-1972.
Yeah Liston, who put a cop in a trash can upside down would be terrified of a 41 years old little fat man with a dead cat on his head!

Absolute nonsensical rubbish! A 36 years old Louis' jab found Marciano time and time again, Liston's would set him back on his heels! After their fight Louis called Marciano a street brawler who lacked skill!
You omit to mention that he has a black fighter at #1. That in itself lends credibility to his high ranking of the white heavyweight champions.
From a career of few competitive fights four of Listons opponents were very strong in their views on dealing with Sonny up close. Each claimed success in that department. http://www.si.com/vault/1964/02/10/608210/the-four-who-baffled-liston J
