Louis stated his best weight was 202. No reason to average prime and past prime weights.

Same goes with Liston. We should look at his prime weights unless he stated someplace what his prime weight was.

Either case it's a mute point. A ten pound difference between Louis and Liston does not have any bearing on the outcome of a Liston Marciano bout.

Was Savold rated at the time or not? Yes or no?

Did Joe Louis, as the associated press wrote, demonstrate "as beautiful a left hook to the jaw as you will ever see" to knock out a leading contender in 1951 yes or no?

Was joe Louis 212lb yes or no?

Was Savolds credentials as a kind of champion any lower than Tony Tubbs, Ernie Terrell or john Tate (who were also paper champions) and why should it mean less when they were beaten?

Liston's age can only be estimated.

I'm not postulating that is the case, I'm saying cogently and concisely that Liston was an overall bigger man than Louis and their respective tale of the tapes prove that to be the case. Its just a fact!
I couldn't care less whether you accept it or not!

You wouldn't recognize the truth if it jumped up and bit you on the nose!

Carrying on and losing a split decision with a broken jaw and winning a fight after sustaining broken nose proves his heart.

The Woodcock Savold dsq was a fix, to get Woodcock on the world stage.

Stupid response everyone who has any pretensions of boxing knowledge knows Louis was no longer the Brown Bomber.

In his previous 9 fights prior to facing Marciano Louis scored just one ko.

You are definitely just what we evaluated you as, and every reply from you confirms it!

He dosnt have to be the brown bomber. When did I say Louis was still as good???

Louis just has to be world class and 212lb to match your claim that Rocky never fought a world class 212 fighter. Joe Louis was world class and 212lb in 1951. The associated press report of the Louis-Savold fight confirms it.

Wrong again! This is my post.
You've never seen him in with a heavy handed class banger who scaled 212lbs have you!
Eight months after the Louis ko Savold was retired! Savold had 40 losses on his sheet when he fought Louis
In his last ten fights Louis scored ONE ko he therefore does not qualify! Dishonest, deceitful, and downright devious!

    McVey,

Where do you rate Sonny's chin in the mid to late 60's in comparison to Tyson, Bowe and Holyfield who also fought way beyond there expiration date, took terrible beatings while old/washed up/totally shot and never needed the sniffing salt to wake up, for example, the exorbitant flush right hands a Tyson impersonator took against Lewis is mind boggling considering it took ONE of those to send Rahman counting the stars.

Liston had a life time of alcohol/substance abuse, Tyson has the same past and possible worse and Holyfield is certainly a life time PED abuser which most likely is not a healthy life style.

Just wanted your opinion on the subject. Thx

I think it would be hard to quantify if Sonny's chin had deteriorated significantly at that stage,he didnt face that many punchers then, Martin and Amos Lincoln were probably the best.If he had been younger against Martin he wouldn't have run out of gas and so would probably have been able to weather those shots that ko'd him, they were good punches anyway.
