Where are: Nino Valdes Earl Walls Clarence Henry Bob Baker Heinz Neuhaus Bob Dunlap Coley Wallace Bob Satterfield Tommy Harrison On Marciano's? Marciano's best wins are over a 37 year old, a 33 year old , and a 40/42 year old. Two were better as light heavyweights , and all were past prime.
I don't think you're to knowledgable about boxing. At first I thought the opposite. Then I go on old threads, seeing all your biased, hatred, and ignorance. Numerous posters such as Mcgrain, and Mcvey would always call you out on your bull**** and you'd completely ignore it Marshall never knocked him down. If you actually knew **** about boxing, (which I doubt you do) you'd know it was a myth. The Ali knockdown was clearly a push. Liston was over 40 at the time of the Martin fight and came down with the flu. Martin was a VERY hard hitter. So what if his fights were fixed? For all we know all his losses could've been fixed. Liston did better than Ingo, in going undefeated against Patterson in back to back one round knockouts. While Ingo was 1-2 against Patterson. :think I'd hardly call it a come from behind win. The (first) fight was even going into the third. Williams was a top level heavyweight. Just stop trying to downsize Liston's resume. Williams never bothered great fighters? Well, I guess he didn't bother Terell when he knocked his ass the **** out. He must not have bothered Eddie Machen when he drew with him. What a buncha biased bull****. I'm not even gonna argue with you. Whatatroll
I think that he was too busy fighting the men who were ranked above them, and the men who had beaten them. Marciano might not have come along in the best era, but his title reign is almost irreproachable.
Nobody fights everybody but Marciano exhausted his division more clearly than Sonny. Who ever was at the top Rocky knocked out. If they were just old why were they at the top? The period Marciano was champion is known as the Marciano era. The dominating heavyweights that span Rockys career were Louis, Charles and Walcott. Rocky knocked them all out. Sonny shared an era with Ingo Patterson and Ali. Ingo is a notable absence. This is not a clear out.
I think it does to be honest, because whatever conclusion we reach, this will be the bottom line. What Marciano did in the real world, means a lot more to me than what I think Liston might have done to him.
Marciano's "real world" stopped when he was 32. Folks here are castigating Liston for sh*t that happened when he was AT LEAST 34 and quite likely a few years older... and sh*t that happened under shady circumstances.
Louis,Charles and Walcott had a combined age of 101! Old and past prime fighters suited his unparalled condition ,and unrelenting grinding style.
I agree. Liston was a great talent. Astonishing attributes. If I appear to come down hard on him it is not because I don't think he was a great fighter. He was! It's just that I feel there needs to be more substance to go on to afford Liston guaranteed superiority over more proven champions.
It's not that simple. The 25lb differential between Chavez and Golovkin represents a greater percentage on men lighter than 161lb. Liston was 199lb on his debut and Rocky was 192lb. They started out within pounds of each other. You can't say that about Chavez and Golovkin debut weights.
See what I mean? Every time somebody calls you out on your bull****, you just ignore them. Right now for instance. Mcvey calls you out your bull****. What do you do? Nothing.
Then then pick Liston, but do so on the understanding that you are making a massive assumption in his favour. One which might be warranted, but which he manifestly hasnt earned in the ring.
