Both in their primes. Robinson at 155lb bumps up to face the 185lb Rocky Marciano, ala Fitzsimmons-Jeffries.

Robinson gets smashed. I'm sure I read an anecdote somewhere where SRR was offered the fight by his manager, to which he replied "You f*cking fight him"!

Not sure if anyone has heard this story/remembers any detail?

i've brought this topic up before and have been laughed off the board. maricano is a heavy favorite here but robinson is the superior boxer in every way shape and form. in the end, marciano is just too big.

Maciano would badly hurt Robinson. Rocky punched too hard, was too strong, and just all around too big with being an ATG to boot.

So,what's Robinson done to make you so pissed off with him ?

Sugar Ray was undoubtably the greatest pound for pound boxer of all time, but a Marciano fight would have been SEVERAL steps too far.

An interesting question, again harkening to Fitz-Jef, is how long Sugar Ray could go and how much could he accomplish; and whether these two things are in inverse proportion.

Also, to what extent is ring size a factor in how long this fight lasts.

We've seen enough of Marciano against smaller and more skilled opponent to know how it would end.
