How does Rocky Marciano do matched up against these following fighters: Mike Weaver Earnie Shavers Michael Grant Deontay Wilder Dwight Muhammad Qawi
50-50 with Weaver in a war. If Weaver's chin holds up he wins. 50-50 with Shavers. Lean towards Marciano as Shavers was a very limited fighter, and had losses to less than stellar opponents, and was ko'd in the first by Quarry. Shavers could very well put him down and keep him down though. Beats Grant late. Get's ko'd BRUTUALLY against Wilder. Fights like this simply shouldn't be made. Qawi razor tight SD.
Wilder is the riskiest fight. If he catches Marciano with a bomb, it could end it. But if Marciano catches Wilder, Deontay is out of the fight. The first three rounds would decide how it ends.
I'm torn on Weaver, Weaver had big power and heart too as Rocky did but I think the difference here would be durability. Weaver in his prime would be about 205 pounds and I think Rocky could overcome that difference at 185. I'll go with Rocky by late knockout in a competitive war. Shavers in his prime was about 205 pounds too and would be stronger and hit harder than anyone Rocky fought but again the difference here is Rocky trumps him in stamina, heart and durability as Shavers would freeze at times when hurt. I'm gonna go with Rocky by knockout anywhere in rounds 6-8 in an exciting fight where Shavers is likely against the ropes not fighting back which results in a stoppage. Michael Grant would probably win this due to the immense size/strength, I know a lot of people will hate to think this and will mention that Grant is chinny but that was against super heavyweights, I don't think Rocky could hurt Grant like Golota and Lewis did. Grant by late stoppage or decision. Wilder by early knockout I'm going with here. The speed, reach and power will be too much here. I think Rocky takes Qawi by decision in a competitive fight, I see Qawi gassing in later rounds.
You don't think Wilder could survive shots off Marciano? Also the 15 reach advantage as well as the speed would be the big difference maker I think.
I think he can survive, but I don’t think he can remain competitive. As soon as he’s shaken up, he’ll lose balance and control, and Marciano will beat him down. Wilder has to land a bomb at long range. The question is whether or not Rocky will be there to hit. I consider him the best at making his way to the inside, and maneuvering the other fighter at that range. Wilder will have only a few opportunities to land that bomb. If he doesn’t succeed on those chances, I think he’ll get chewed up on the inside. Wilder isn’t a great inside fighter, and Marciano is.
I think it’s a clean sweep. If you think of the worst those guys lost to you would have to favour the Rock against each of them on an individual basis. I mean Weaver lost to both Bobick brothers. And he’s the best one! Even Shavers lost to Ron Stander. But that’s not to say Rocky can recover from each win and beat the next guy. Each win takes its toll. In truth Rocky was good for maybe just three wars at world level. In any fantasy fight Rocky must have low a Millage on the clock in order to win.
You think so? I think Shavers loses to all of them except Qawi, I know Shavers has the power to hurt Rocky but Shavers but Shavers was not very good at finishing the best fighters.
