To each their own. But dominant hw champs have been either larger or more powerful than most peers. For me, that's the more telling trend, rather than who what happens on a fight by fight basis, macro trend v micro trend.

Do you want me to make a trend based on the amount of times the title changed hands in favour of the quicker man? I guarantee it is no micro trend.

I don't understand how you fail to see the hypocrisy of your pov.

Anyone still in doubt about the delusional nature of the more fervent "Rockistas" only needs to read this thread's post by Reznik..

    Beats Patterson by KO
    Beats Ingo by KO
    Beats Liston by KO
Loses to 60's Ali by points
    Beats Frazier by KO
Beats 70's Ali by points (loses rematches by points)
    Loses to Foreman by KO
    Beats Holmes by points
    Loses to Tyson by KO
    Beats Holyfield by KO
    Beats Bowe by KO
    Beats Lewis by KO
    Beats Vitali by KO
    Beats Wlad by KO

Surely no other fighter has fans with such a patently tenuous grasp of reality?

The question about BMI is easy to answer.
It's because weightlifting was frowned upon for a long time in boxing. And once it wasn't frowned uponuanymore(with Micheal spinks being the first big example) the BMI's went up.
With strength training came strength coaches and rampant abuse of PEDs that were used in powerlifting/bodybuilding leading to even more weight gain.

It's really quite simple. No it doesn't mean that all fighters before the 80s were clean because the PEDs had been around for decades before the 80s and at least some of the fighters must have been aware of them surely

(some of the weight fluctuations with some of our favorite fighters from before the 80s seem suspect as well once you see that a guy after being a certain weight for a year or two suddenly gains 15 pounds in 3 months without an ounce of fat and without lifting weights at all
Or when you see Ken Norton go from an already very muscular 205 ripped to 225 just as ripped, again without lifting weights)

You don't just gain another lean 10-20lbs without lifting weights if you're already a big strong muscular guy who looks like he already lifts weights but apparently doesnt. And you definitely don't do it while still being in shape to fight 15 rounds.

    Sorry guys that's not natural.

Knocks Patterson out in a much tougher fight than anyone expected
Knocks Ingo out early after shaken up himself
    loses to Liston via cuts
Loses to Clay (first Ali) via cuts or if by some miracle he makes the distance, he clearly gets ud'd.
Loses to Frazier in a war
Loses early to Foreman via cuts
Stopped in a FOTC type fight by Ali(70s)
Knocks both of them out Spinks and Norton out early. Norton could get seriously injured.
Holmes. Holmes would prevail via cuts. Virtually certain of this.
Tyson would dominate in the early going but would lose confidence each passing seeing Marciano refuse to go down leading to his inevitable demise.
Holyfield. A slug fest from the start. I'm honestly split. Could be either man's ball game.
Marciano would fight Bowe the same way Holyfield did in their 1st fight. It might've been the wrong style for Holyfield but the perfect style for Marciano.
Lewis. Could see Marciano winning the first one and Lewis successfully adjusting to Marciano's style and beating him the next two times.
Vitali. Stopped by cuts either way. Any man's ball game but slightly leaning towards the rock.
Wladimir. I honestly think it's inevitable Rocky eventually gets past Wladimir's reach and gets to his chin.

Nope. Not while he was an active boxer.
Look it up if you want.

    http://articles.latimes.com/1987-12-26/sports/sp-7367_1_fighter

the first sentence of Chapter Two "The Norton Rule" of his autobiography reads "People have always asked me how I got my sculpted physique. I can only attribute it to good genes. Honestly I never worked out with weights, and that includes when I was boxing professionally."

PEDs were around since the 1960 when the American Olympic Doctor administered dianabol to the Team.

It just became rampant in the 80s when boxing was introduced to strength and conditioning/weightlifting/bodybuilding which was just completely full with roids

Well norton said also that shavers did hit harder than foreman and "more recently " in a interview of radio he said that they did hit around the same. Search topics of bodybuilding and you will see that he was a huge fan i don't believe that he never before trained weights but i respect what do you want to believe

Norton had gifted genetics. He never touched a weight
