How are Rocky fans any more delusional than Ali fans who think he could beat Wladimir or AJ?

Ali beat exactly one contender over 220 yet they think he can beat athletic super heavies in the 240s and 250s despite him never being tested against such men

I'm just going by what he said. Which is that he didn't lift weights while he was a fighter.
And yes @SuzieQ49 he was gifted.

Francois Botha for example took steroids and worked out and didn't look good because he didn't have the genetics.

But nobody gains 20lbs of pure muscle on an already impressive 205lb physique naturally without lifting weights. It's just absurd.
His Body at 205 was already incredibly impressive for someone who didn't use weights and anyone who works out will agree with me that a guy looking like that at 205 without ever touching a weight is already outrageous.

It's not a knock against Norton they were entirely legal and not tested for back then and nobody in the public knew or cared about steroids in the 70s the whole witch-hunt started in the 90s when we no longer has to worry about beating the Soviets in the Olympics THEN all of a sudden they were vilified.

He would have been an idiot NOT to take them in that era if they made him fight better.

He seemed to have a "patently tenuous grasp of reality" with respect to any number of old school heavyweights though. I don't think it's fair to Marciano fans to hold them accountable for his comments.

    Because of styles.

Ali atleast has SOME advantages over both and has shown the ability to fight more than one way.

The smaller guy has a shot if he has speed.
Look at Tyson, Patterson, RJJ, Holyfield
And a chin is even more helpful because it allows the quick small guy more room for error.

But Rocky can only go forward. Which means he's gonna get hit.ALOT.
by punches from huge guys with the type of power he has never been proven to be able to take.
    His face wouldn't hold up.
He would be clinched and manhandled like a child if he ever got close.

If he did connect he would be hitting big prime guys not small shopworn guys whos body's are worn down. He's never shown that he can take down a guy that size.

And the problem is that his power didn't have a speed component like Tyson or patterson, they were able to hurt big guys because the big guys wouldn't see the punches.
Marciano has heavy handed power from being able to put his whole bodyweight into punches so well.....but that gets cancelled out by a larger guys own weight.

Ali was never considered a big hitter I doubt his punches would affect the big guys much regardless of speed.

He does make truly great videos though.
Really captures the essence of each fighter with the clips he chooses. great music selection as well.
I really like his video on Marciano even if i come off as a hater of Marciano.
His fights were great, he was a great guy incredibly tough and determined and I am a fan of Rocky but that doesn't mean that I look at these ridiculous H2H matchups against modern greats and think he'll win.

It's just not fair to match him up against guys with similar p4p ability who have 40+ lbs on him.its just too much damn weight for a guy without speed to give up

He also has to come within punching range of Joshua Fury Klitschko to land his own punches because he is now at a reach disadvantage

That's why speed and mobility advantages are so useful for smaller fighters.

They don't have to with Wlad. He just needs to flurry a little and show off his speed or attack him inround1 like he did with foreman and Wlad will panick so he either goes down without being hurt like with Peter or just doesn't throw out of apprehension like with fury.

I actually have no idea if he would beat lewis or Vitali or AJ
But I can atleast see how someone could make an argument for Ali that doesn't reek of emotional attachment and hero worship.

For example one could argue Ali could just wait for or force them to gass out which all of them have shown to do in some fights

37 KO's in 55 wins against the calibre of opponent Ali faced says that he knew how hurt and finish opponents.

He knew how to hurt guys who would be giving away 30 pounds or more to today's giants. The cruiserweights of today are bigger than most of his opponents

The size gap between Marciano and Alis opposition is a lot less than that between Alis opposition and today's guys in case people haven't noticed
