Can we judge him as he actually was instead of some hypothetical chimera whom added weight on would only adversely detract from his already suspect speed and not be beneficial to his stamina. If ever a fighter fought at his optimum weight , Marciano did!

Joe Louis and Joe Walcott are both on record saying Marciano was easy to hit.
Moore never fought a super heavy of class and he himself was an 188lbs ex lhy ,nearly 40 years old.

Vingo was a string bean novice who weighed 189lbs
Marciano was cut in every one of his major fights ,how does he weather the jabs of men like Liston Ali,Bowe,Foreman,Holmes?
Dropped by 2 men ,one 38years old, one 39/40 both under 200lbs
Good job you're here to educate us about Rocky!

ps Byrd had nothing to do with Vitali's injury, it was a torn rotator cuff.

Yet men that size have been consistently losing to the best big men the last 21+ years. There hasn't been an Ali sized lineal champ since the mid 1990s. The facts suggest they cant compete anymore at the top level

I completely agree. I think a great Marciano sized heavy would compete ok with Holmes, Frazier etc but overall would be a little up against it. Against bigger guys again it would be tough even tho they are mostly less talented. I think guys like Holmes, Liston, Foreman, Ali, Tyson etc would do quite ok against any weight.

i am not so sure, he was poor in that fight, due to poor longevity.

You don't know Rocky would be less effective. You can only assume.

We know that drugs cheats WOULD be less effective without PEDs. We don't need to assume. This is a hard fact isn’t it?

We can assume an entire generation of heavyweights were cheating. We KNOW many of today's top heavyweights have been linked with cheating. Fury, Ortiz, Povetkin.

Then we have overwhelming evidence of peculiarities with Holyfield, Morrison, Golota, Tyson and perhaps everyone in the 1990s.

To imagine Marciano in the future is not as difficult as imagining the future champions depleted of all modern enhancement. You take that from them and what do you have? Are they as great for as long as they were? Are they even great in the first place?

Fighters like the Klitchkos might not have been viable at all since it took until the steroid era for that type of fighter to become relevant. And it has nothing to do with numbers or people getting bigger all by themselves. American people towered above the rest of the world for decades yet it took until the steroid era for giants to finally take over boxing. In the most dominant boxing nation they had been around all along!

Marciano with all the benefits they had could be as different and more viable an entity than he was in his own time as the modern giants are in the present time.

It is not possible for illegally enhanced fighters to be what they were unless they live in a time where they can develop into what they became.

    Are you happy to disagree?

I think he'd likely beat Patterson, Johanson, Norton (very close), and Spinks.

The rest i'd favor to beat the smaller Marciano.

    Ko's floyd early rounds
    Ko's Johanson early rounds
    Loses to Clay via UD
Ko's Frazier late rounds in a swarming war
"""Ko's""" Foreman (Foreman's trash stamina causes him to collapse after 6-8 rounds of Marciano's pace)
    Tko's Ali late rounds
Brutal Ko of Spinks and Norton in the early rounds
Ko's Larry Holmes in the late rounds after being behind on points
Ko's Tyson mid/late rounds after he survives the initial onslaught of Tyson
UD's Bowe or possibly KO in late rounds (assuming 15 rounds)
Ko's Lewis mid rounds after Lennox beats his ass in the early rounds
UD or late TKO against Vitali
    Ko's Wlad mid rounds

I can hear an argument for him losing to Holmes or Foreman

Was easy to hit with A punch. He was not easy to hit with a good punch or combos. I never heard JL or Walcott say that. I’ve heard fighters say the opposite. You can’t face the truth that Rocky was the best of HW for his time. Human evolution has not occurred in the last 100 years. He would knock the hell out of these bums. I like the fact that the racists think Tyson who was the same height as Marciano could beat everyone but no way Marciano could. He purposefully weighed in the 185-188 range. The thinking then was weigh less as opposed to now be fat. He played baseball at 210-220 not even close to a stretch he could fight at that weight. So what he lacked speed. Obviously didn’t need it. PS he was great at slipping jabs and countering with over hands.

He was also “knocked down” by two HOFers both of whom he was up at the count of like 3 against. He wasn’t knocked out by bums like Wlad Tyson and Lennox were.

All the more reason to call the cruiserweight division “heavyweight” and change the name of the current heavyweight division “Superheavyweight” as it is in Amateur boxing.

the Klitchko sized men were not significantly viable until that type of fighter became relevant after changes in training. They are not heavyweights.

And it has nothing to do with population numbers or people getting bigger all by themselves that Superheavyweights have become more numerous.

American people towered above the rest of the world for decades yet it took until the steroid era for giants to finally take over boxing. They had been around all along!

These sized men became a thing once advances came along. Give them their own weight class.

Truth of the matter is every HW of the last 15 years would not be champion in past years. Funny how people like to say you can’t imagine rocky in todays age well picture these slobs trying to fight 15 round fights. They’re winded after 6. Picture then without steroids and PEDs and you’re left with journey men that weigh forty pounds less.

There should be some kind of IQ test before guys like you can post........so the Italian Stallion needed two tries to get rid that skinny bum LaStarza.......went the distance with no hoper Lowry but he literally ko's everybody in your land of dreams list.

Fact, Marciano will get brutally counted out against most on "your list".....hint, there is zero evidence that Marciano has a true , by todays standards, heavyweight chin............if you get knocked down by light heavy Pensioners you aint got a prayer against Tyson, Foreman, Lewis, Bowe and on and on....FACT.
