You know Maricano played football in high school too? He was a stand out all around athlete. Baseball was his passion though.

I disagree, stocky fat as hell sluggers have always found a home in the HW ratings.

Marciano's key physical attribute on offense was stamina. Add more weight and that goes down. He approaches normal. He becomes a swing for the fences one shot gambler. His key physical attribute on defense was flexibility enabling extreme crouches, weaves and ducks. Add more weight and that goes down, also. He is stiffer and a sitting duck with no range and now, no flexibility.

He was just a wee fellow. There is no getting around it. Small of stature in every regards. Stop trying to pit him against elite athletes.

    I don't see it tbh.

Plenty of 5'10 men have weighed over 200 pounds and still been in shape.

It's a question of how effective a boxer he would still be for every extra pound he added.

    It's all guess work.

Here's my thing..you can look at this picture of a 186 pound Holyfield...

Imagine saying, you can 30 pounds of muscle to him and he would win the HW title from a 6'5" 246 monster back in 1986. it doesn't seem possible, Evander was already bulging with muscle and of sub par hand speed, his greatest attribute was his stamina..surely adding 30 pounds of muscle to that already bulked up frame would be career suicide?

I just don't see this obsession that Marciano is an anomaly in boxing and cannot have any extra weight.

It's not like he would put on extra weight to jump a division. He was in an unlimited division and by definition was at the optimal weight to exploit his talents. There was no lure to jump from lightheavy or cruiser.... he had already arrived. It was only for he and his trainer to agree on his optimal fighting weight regardless of the scale.

But the division is a lot heavier now.

The weight he fought at back then is today called CW. So optimally speaking he's best as a CW, does not mean he would never challenge a HW champion in the ring if he was fighting today.

You enjoy coming on every head to head match up
of boxers from different eras, then blithely ignoring the criteria and talking a lot of hypothetical sh*t about mythological hybrid boxers that you create in your mind, its a fetish with you.
I didn't prove your point you never had one, apart from attempting to f*ck up another h2h thread which you compulsively do every time one is posted.

If you're so intruiged about what modern boxers would be like in earlier eras /earlier boxers today, why don't you make your own thread about it instead of f*cking up every one you comment on?

He was the heavyweight champion of the world in the unlimited class and that is what he is being matched as.

You did prove it, and excellently so.

Even though Holyfield was an undisputed champion under 200 pound, he still had to add a lot of muscle to compete in the heavier division.

Thanks for doing the research for me mate.

    Much appreciated.

Still doesn't change he'd be a cruiserweight today and not a heavyweight in an unlimited class.

You say Rocky hit harder than Lewis and Wlad .Prove it.
Golovkin has no relevance o this thread and what you are referencing is hearsay anyway.
I'll tell you this ,most recognized boxing experts would give Langford a good chance against Rocky but a very slim one against modern quality super heavyweights.
It's been long established that you think the sun shone out of Rocky's rectum but some of your hero worship is just plain idiotic.
Wlad, Lewis, Bowe, would waltz Marciano around like a toy doll he would be conceding 60lbs in weight ,14 inches in reach and 7/8 inches in height !
    Delusion is right!
