    Marciano vs
    Mac Foster
    Ron Lyle
    Earnie Shavers

Could Marciano go undefeated like Quarry did?

    No.
    Lyle clearly beats him.
    Shavers probably wins too.

    I wouldn't bet on it.
I'd like to bet on Marciano, but I really think he's too small for these guys. The rabbit will be caught in the foxhole.

I answered I don’t know but I think it’s possible. The only real question mark for me is Shavers and the deeper Rocky takes him the better his chances of going 3-0 are.

The Shavers who was knocked out in 1 by Quarry?

The Lyle who went life and death with Shavers?

Definite no on Ernie. Lyle was more hot and cold and had the size advantage, but still, I think maybe the legend of the 70s is a bit much, here.

Quarry was a counter puncher and apart from Shavers who he blew away early and surprisingly I might add. Quarry outboxed the rest especially Lyle which was his best performance he boxed beautifully in that fight.

Marciano is an aggressive swarmer and he'd be coming forward against bigger men who hit harder than any fighter he'd ever fought.

Overall obviously Marciano is a greater fighter than the likes of Lyle, Shavers, Foster, but it's a stylistic issue. A swarmer against 3 big punchers especially punchers who are considerably bigger than Marciano is not a good match up for him.

That's not to say Marciano couldn't win some of these fights but I don't think Marciano would go 3-0.

I think Marciano hit harder than Quarry, so he definitely can put Shavers and Foster away. Quarry hit hard enough to hurt Lyle, so Lyle could be hurt by Rocky.

He goes 3-0 but he'll survive some very scary moments.

    “Too small”

shavers was 6’ 206lb in his prime. Is that really too big?

shavers had perhaps the worst stamina of all time, and Marciano arguably the best of all time. Marciano also packed an iron chin and good recuperation powers.

if Marciano unleashes 114 punches against shavers like he did in round 6 vs Moore..they would have to pick Shavers heart and lungs off the floor

you will not see me argue against Marciano losing to gigantic super heavyweights of the modern era…but in p4p battles Marciano might be the rings ultimate animal. Would any sub 185lber beat a peak Marciano in a fight? The answer is maybe not.

rock would have beaten quite a few great 200-210lbers as well, not all though. Once you encroach bowe/klitschko size and skill, Marciano stands no chance genetically

6' 202 pounds wasn't much more than Walcott who was 6' 196 pounds. A whole, wopping 6 pounds.

He was too small for their power. Shavers and Lyle had comparable strength to Foreman, and Shavers' was even superior to that, the kind of power that would blow out someone who's 6'4 is not something that I'd bet on Marciano taking.
Like I said, I'd like to bet on the rock, but this seems a bit far out of his depth here.

Are you sure? Because the previous poster made Shavers appear like he was the size of Lennox Lewis. Or perhaps he bought into his own apocryphal notion that shavers was a super heavyweight.

Yeah, Shavers was much closer in size to guys like Walcott or Layne than guys like Lewis or Bowe.

    let’s discuss shavers. Only 6 feet 205-210lb

He had a questionable chin. 200lb Quarry blitzed him in 1 round in a toe to toe battle.

    His stamina? Pisss poor.

You’re betting on shavers being able to flatten Marciano ice cold with one right hand…something shavers rarely did in his career vs a world class fighter. It’s also something we’ve never seen happen to Marciano, I don’t think we ever really saw him hurt on film (although never faced a puncher of shavers calibre)

that said..I think you’re betting on the wrong horse.

I think Marciano getting off the deck to tire out and batter shavers to defeat is far more likely than receiving a one punch knockout loss

Again..if shavers gets put in deep waters…what type of fortitude has he ever shown that could allow him to survive Marciano, a figurative human windmill whose tenacity was second to none ?

Lyle would be a challenge for Marciano

he held considerable more size and tools than shavers

that said..I am betting on rocky late. Wouldn’t be easy
