Yep it took a dynamo like 5'11, 72in reach bum Lionel Butler to turn Tony Tubbs lights out in one round.

Marciano and Louis wipe their **** with Tubbs.

I just counted Rocky threw about 87 punches in the 15th round of the Charles fight.

Tubbs by decision. He'll give angles. Marciano could hit but heavyweights were smaller in his day. Both Charles and Rocky would be Cruiserweights today. Louis would be a small heavy.

Tubbs got steamrolled by Tyson, but Tyson was faster, bigger and hit harder than Marciano. He was also better defensively.

Tubbs wasn't in prime shape for Tyson

The 229 lb. Tubbs who easily out boxed Page was a very, very good fighter.

Even at 244, he barely lost to Witherspoon.

That was a faded Tubbs, plus Butler was about 230 lbs. himself. Marciano was the size of a Bert Cooper

How many punches is he able to get off against a 6-3, 240 pound, supremely skilled MAN MOUNTAIN like Tubbs?

I can throw 200 punches a round against a heavybag. Big deal.

Seamus, you should throw together a quality Tubbs highlight montage! The lack of one is a gaping hole in youtube's boxing offerings.

I've got footage that is too valuable. I can't let the pleebs have free access to it.

That's just it. Tubbs was the proverbial dull but effective. He was like a bigger Jimmy Young.

Butler was also a 12-10-1 bum who usually weighed so much due to being an obese slob like Tubbs.

How about his other one punch first round KO loss to palooka Jimmy Ellis (not to be confused with the Jimmy Ellis who could actually fight and who would also have spanked Tubbs wobbly backside)

    And faded from what anyway?

Tubbs was never that good to begin with. His signature win is Greg Page who at best could be described as spasmodically competent and a loss to a less than focused Tim Witherspoon who was already having issues with Don King and partaking of recreational drug use. Throw in turning up overweight and missing out on a $50K bonus to come in in a semi decent condition to get squashed by Mike Tyson and you have the highlights of Tony's career covered. It's hardly the sort of resume that would see Tony riding in the motorcade at Canastota any time soon.

Nobody claims Tubbs was HOF material

But he has all the physical advantages in this matchup.

Marciano is not fighting a 37 year old washed up Louis or 40 yr. old Walcott, or even a blown up past his prime Lightheavyweight like Charles here, but a prime, physically gifted guy, who, if he came in prime shape, still has a 30 lb. weight advantage.

Marciano might get lucky and catch him at some point, but he's going to have to come from way behind to do it.

Not nearly as gifted defensively as Young, nor with anything resembling the chin whiskers Jimmy had.

He was a better mover, though.
