    Sorry, late to the thread.

Has anyone made the argument yet that Marciano's severe lack of height and reach would allow him to easily punish Fury's body?

The best Fury probably wouldn't have too much trouble with the best Marciano. Comparing from such different eras and different sizes and weights really does doesn't make much sense.

I think the problem there would be Fury's quick, [for a huge man,] feet, and the fact that he would obviously try to smother the tiny, [in comparison] Rocky in close.

    That didn't answer my question.

They would have benefited greatly from modern trainers who taught them how to better use their size and length, sure.

Very strange thread...Let us crown King Fury the h2h king. There is no man, legend, or demigod capable of dethroning the man. Unless that man is 6”10 and approximately one pound more then the greatest fighter whom ever graced this earth. He is the Height and Weight King and we are merely living in his world.
In all seriousness I wish we could get this passion on an Archie Moore or Foreman or Frazier thread but alas the passion is not there. But I do love Marciano and I’ll argue for him as much as any other boxer I like but no one enjoys to put down the other guys like they do Marciano. Sometimes it’s all people have to put down Marciano day in and day out. He is over hyped on one hand and wrongly dismissed on the other. Very strange.

Marciano would pay dearly staying on the inside with a guy that big. that strong, who has obviously learned to use his size against smaller opponents. Look how he smothered Wilder, who was 45 pounds heavier than Marciano. He just crushed the fight right out of a feared, devastating, undefeated puncher.

I’d say Rocky was 5 ‘10 and guys like Walcott and Charles were under 6 foot as there didn’t seem much height difference between them and Marciano so I have them at 5 ‘11 tops.
In the Ali Liston rematch Walcott was dwarfed by Ali, who I have as 6’2, although old joe stood crooked by then.
If you look closely at the old footage Louis towers above Rocky so I put him down as a strong 6’1 as he didn’t seem much different to Ali in photos years later.
So yea it’s not unusual for fighters to be a inch or 2 off there listed heights so Fury could easily be 6’6 or 6’7.
Nobody actually measures these guys it’s basically the height they claim to be.
I met and chatted to many champs in more recent years and most are shorter than there listed heights.
Rocky was often listed at 5’10 back in the day or 5 11 which I think is a wee bit much for him could possibly be 5’10 and half but that would be the max imo

Ali was all of 6' 3".

Why can't the disciples just accept that fact.

I met him 3 times, I didn't read it in a magazine or on the internet, I saw it with my own eyes.

Jesus Christ, anything to try and get his chin a little bit closer to those stubby arms.

Okay lets try and put it another way.How many opportunities do you think Marciano is gong to get to punish Fury's body?

I second that. Met him in 1990 and he was a legit 6-3.

The Marcianista loves to imagine Rocky in the pit doing his work and not having to pay any price to get there.

The Marcianista also prefers to dismiss any work that his opponent, 85 pounds larger, will be doing with grappling and leaning and generally foisting his superior manhood upon the lil' fella. I am old enough to remember Fury doing this exact thing to a 231 puncher who had been discussed as being the hardest puncher ever.

I was asking if anyone made the argument. I didn't say I was making the argument.

Didn’t wilder do better at 209? Wilder the most over hyped guy in boxing I can ever remember. Then again Andy Ruiz was pretty over hyped as well six months ago...all one has to do is revisit those threads where he dominates past legends left and right. Truth is wilder is a worse version of shavers this generation. A one trick pony who never beat anyone of any significance and obviously doesn’t take his craft seriously as his peers contest to the same. Now onto Fury. Should Povetkin and Chisora have beaten Price not to long ago? Price is everything you speak of. 6”8 can box he’s big. Should have dominated those little men. But he got knocked out. By a 6”1 and 6”2 guy. We all know Fury was dropped by smaller men not even to be confused with anyone half as good as Marciano. So let’s wait and see what Fury does the rest of his career. Maybe he will actually fight the best available

I think we need to wait on Fury. He was PED busted, and had a tough fight with former curser weight Cunningham ( Who floored and hurt Fury ). Cinningham was also past his prime when the fight happened. Don't tell anyone Rocky doesn't have a shot.

I suspect Fury is vulnerable to the head or body vs punchers that land on him. The Joshua fight will tell us everything and if they meet predict Joshua via TKO.
