Evander Holyfield struggled with men older than Walcott and had a prime loss to little old Michael Moorer. Would you bet your life that the Holyfeild who lost to moorer would wipe out the same Walcott Rocky fought?
I think you should be embarrassed to make an excuse for Holyfeild. Evander was not old or outsized he just got beat by another artificial heavyweight .in his prime. You said no all time great could be down 8-4 to Walcott, I say Holyfeild who lost to Moorer and you have an excuse!
so what one is it? you think Holyfeild deserved to keep his title against moorer or moorer beats walcott? I cant decide which is funnier!
Yes I was actually , glad you spotted that. wolves are not so good at spelling but make more sense of boxing history than you do. apart from moorer obviously?:hi:
I used Holyfield as an example. He was poor within his prime losing to moorer. I could have used others who were poor within their prime but I used holyfield. I dont see the Walcott who fought Marciano losing to either Moorer or Holyfield the night they fought each other. Do you? Please answer this, I could do with a laugh. You say Moorer only beat holyfield on a scoring error? Care to elaborate on that?
You mean the 38 year old Jersey Joe Walcott who knocked out a prime ezzard charles in 7 devastating rounds? Yes, he has a strong shot at being Holyfield.
So you're telling me this knockout was generated from a "washed up" fighter? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0hZKnQ07IE[/ame]
So when was Walcott's prime then? In your opinion Btw, a 1952 walcott would have beaten the **** out of a 1955 archie moore(whom you claim to be marciano's "best" win)
I scored Holy v Moorer to Holy by 1 point if I remember rightly. I also scored Bowe v Holy 2 a draw so I don't think Big Daddy deserved to lose his belts in the ring and don't see this bout as massively significant (let alone the joke of a claim Briggs had). It's not beyond possible that Jersey could beat Holy on points. I'd expect him to beat the failing heart version that scraped by MM. Still the Jersey that Rocky beat > Sharkey that Jack beat. I'm not sure upon which basis you declare Jersey past his best.
I also AGREED with my man Foreman back in '94 when Holy and Moorer fought the first time in Vegas. I was there in town at Caesar's Palace at that juncture and met both Holy and Moorer as well as Lou Duva just a couple of days before the fight in which President Nixon died earlier that day before the opening bell. Holy hurt his shoulder; not his heart, but he still did enough to retain his title in my book. Moorer got real lucky that night in April '94...... MR.BILL
Against Moorer it was not Holyfields loss of a strong shoulder or loss of heart but loss of hair that disturbs me most about evander! I cant say it was a side effect of something in Holys training but I am at a loss for words about evanders loss of hair during that period....
