My opinion on the guy is that he is one of the best boxers, and one of my top 3 ever heavyweights that ever graced the ring. I didnt want that being confused with what i am about to ask thats all.

Anyways do people think that maybe if Marciano was still alive today, do you feel that he would hold that legendary status in our sport?? Obviously he was one of the best of all time no doubt, but i'm kind of referring to other 'legends' of there trade that have past then given that legend status. for example Kurt Cobain, John Lennon or even Hendrix, all of which in my eyes are legends imo, but perhaps if they were still with us, wouldnt hold that same legendary status.

Good point, the tragically deceased are usually held in reverance. Certainly while he was active, Marciano was criticized for being small, slow, clumsy, easy to hit, and a bleeder. But when you look back and see he never lost, even when hopelessly behind on points , or with his nose hanging by a thread, and consider the crushing kayoes he scored, it seems appropriate to hold The Rock in esteem with the great ones.
