    This is certainly true, but the best of them
    Louis ,Charles, Walcott ,and Moore had all seen their best days.

    This. Can’t blame someone for knowing when their time is up and leaving with their health intact. Ali and Joe Louis had to be forced to stop fighting, since I remember reading years ago Louis still wanted to make a comeback after the Marciano fight, but nobody would license him and Ali also tried to make a comeback in 83-84, but he also couldn’t get anybody to license him.
