You dont think Vingo hitting his head hard on the ring floor had something to do with it?
"Marciano put Vingo down for the count with a left uppercut in the sixth round. Vingo, who hit his head hard on the canvas when he went down," was unconscious

Vingo was 189lbs , He went into the 6th rd with Rocky and gave him hell .
"Before a Madison Square Garden crowd of 9,277, Marciano (24-0) and Vingo (16-1) went toe-to-toe in a vicious back and forth war. Marciano later described it as "the toughest fight of my career."

I wonder how he would have fared against Tyson?
Would he see the 6th rd ,the 2nd?

Yes, & though Marciano was certainly pre-prime, Vingo was a stringbean for HW at 6'4" & a little under 190 lbs.
Also just barely out of his teens.

Brain seems to be functioning okay? Then again ,you don't need to be firing on all cylinders to rebut some of the nonsense posted here do you?

The only nonsense is yours in this case - what bothers you that much tat Rocky possessed a rare power and indeed made a few of Lane's teeth fly outside his mouth, being in his mouthpiece? Again, it is a well-known fact, but of course, you are free to deny it. Here - a newspaper article about: The Deseret News - Google News Archive Search.

Seventeen of Marciano's opponents were lighter than him, including two of his title challengers.
Six of his opponents were under 180lbs.
    COO! COO!

So how does that relate to the fact he knocked out Layne's teeth? Is it only Rocky who faced lighter opponents? Most of them were taller, and out of more than 40 opponents, you talk about 17 only. Layne, in particular, was heavier. Most of his opponents were not only heavier, but a lot heavier (like 10-15 kg), while the lighter ones were barely 1-2-3 kg lighter.

I'm not denying it ,it was 2 teeth and he broke Layne's bridge.Louis smashed Uzcudun's bridgework and left his gold teeth on the ring canvas.
More impressively he drove Braddock's teeth through his gumshield into his lips.
ps I first saw the Layne fight in1965 when I bought it on8mm.
I don't think you are going to teach me much about Marciano, but we shall have to wait and see.

I don't even care about how much you think you know about Rocky, nor do I want to teach you.

Two or more - his mouthpiece flew outside the ring, which is pretty impressive for a no-steroids man of 84 kg. Rocky also retired around 1/3 of his opponents, you know it, just as he badly damaged Vingo.

It means that your statement that.
"And they were all around 15-25 kg heavier."
    Is false, doesnt it?
Of course you ,after being corrected by me, altered your statement from, ALL to MOST.Naughty naughty!
    Layne was a whopping 7'1/2lbs heavier !

Yes, the range is indeed that big, Jackson was outweighing him by 32. Shkor by 14, Wilson by 18, Louis by 13 and there were others with some 7-8-9. So I see how much you know about him, you "corrector". Keep shaming yourself.

Marciano retired around 1/3 of his opponents?
    Did he?
That's 16 opponents he retired, you've made a statement and now I am asking you to prove it?
Louis was 37 and only fighting because he was in debt to the IRS he had been a pro for 17 years!
Walcott was 38 and had been fighting for 23 years!
    Age retired them!
I look forward to reading all those16 names.

Even your maths sucks - he had 49 fights, but not against 49 people. So you can easily check (like going on BoxRec), how many of his opponents quit boxing after facing him, Mr. Knowledge. Until then, keep digging the dirt you spread. It was enough to expose you so far.

Jackson had his first pro fight in December 46 he weighed 160lbs
Twenty three months later he fought Marciano weighing 254lbs
Do you think that is somehow meritorius for Marciano, beating a fat blob?
Please explain how I am "shaming myself",Im really curious to know?
    Got those 16 names yet?
