Perhaps because it was a street fight and not a boxing match? Rocky also knocked him out in the first 5 seconds. Gunn then hit him with a cheap shot from behind.
See my note; "Tommy Gun would be #4 if it was a sanctioned boxing match & not a street brawl", it's a damn shame, I would have loved to see them fight in the ring.
I know. What if Rocky came back in the ring and they fought. And Rocky won, and he got his money back so their family could get a better home and get their mansion back. It would've made so much more sense then a stupid street fight.
That would have been great, and Sly could have cut out all the boring crap about Rocky's kid at school too. :good
I get that but he grant said opponents and Gunn was an opponent in a fight...it's gray territory for me. I mean, if Ali and Frazier got into a clear fist fight, not like the grappling fight they got into on that TV set but a real out-of-the-ring fist fight, I would have to count that. Now, somebody pulls a weapon, that's different. Or, let's say Rocky were wearing a helmet or armor, that's different.
:blabla Says the "historian/filmaker" self proclaimed, of course. Must be lonely living in your mother's basement all by yourself huh?
What about the exibition with Mason Dixon or the street fight with Tommy Gunn? Prime Creed beats them all, including Rocky! lol
Everyone knows Clubber was out of shape in the rematch, carrying those extra two pounds. Then Rocky ducked a rubber match before going on to face a green Ivan Drago. Rocky had a great first title reign, punctuated by his destruction of German Champ, but everything else until the Dixon fight is just plain sad.
At the time Rocky fought them, 1. Clubber Lang 2. Apollo Creed 3. Ivan Drago 4. Mason Dixon 5. Tommy Gunn After that it's mostly guesswork. Clubber Lang is the only fighter in the series to convincingly defeat Balboa, that's worth a lot. And unlike fellow puncher Ivan Drago, Lang had the benefit of an extensive pro career. A prime Apollo would be numero uno.
MuchMoore, I disagree. Ivan Drago was by far the best. He utterly destroyed and killed a past his prime but still dangerous Apollo Creed. No one ever did that to Creed. Drago hit 2150 PSI(much harder than lang's), and was on steroids. He was also 6'6 260lb. He could do it all. He was the most perfectly trained athlete ever. Drago with his size, skills, speed, jab, athleticism, power would have brutalized Apollo, Lang, and any other version of Balboa in 2-3 rounds. However, Balboa was a dangerous man that night. He had the best training camp of his life and was at his peak physically. He still got hammered nearly every round before scoring a last round knockout. Lang was a great puncher, but he knocked out an out of shape mentally distraught Balboa. Lang was limited, had trouble with speedy boxers. Balboa knocked him out in only 3 in the rematch. Drago was much more versatile, speedy boxers could not outbox him. Drago was too tall and too skilled. sluggers could not outslug him. Drago was too big and too powerful. I think Balboa did beat a prime Apollo. By all accounts, Apollo was in the best shape of his career for the rematch. He looked as fast and mean as ever for 14 rounds.
