Rodrigo Valdez not in Hall of Fame???

He's actually been inducted to the IBHOF under the Old Timer category. Good to see a highly underappreciated fighter finally getting his dues.

Great to see. Valdez's induction has been long overdue.

 

Why is he in the old timer category ?
Joe Gans, Abe Attell, Billy Miske.... Rodrigo Valdez... ?

 

I don't understand it either. Yoko Gushiken, Masao Ohba, and Pone Kingpetch are fighters from the 60s/70s era yet they are under the Old Timer category as well.

 

Maybe they thought the asians are under a different calendar. You know, the whole buddhist stuff.... what is modern in USA is old days there...
But South America ?

 

I'm guessing they extended the time period encompassed by "old timer" ... but it only applies to newer inductees?

 

Another reason why the IBHOF has become more questionable over the years. Seems like they just change up the requirements, eligibility, and categories whenever they feel like it.

 

Pazienza is going but Rocky isn't there. Valdez would have knocked Pazienzas head off.
