The ultra tough Columbian faces off with "Lights Out."
    15 rounds. Who and why?
    (Toney has never fought fifteen)

    Valdez outworks and outpunches him.

If Toney had used more lateral movement i would have went with him.

Yep. Pretty simple victory I should imagine, though close.

PLus Valdez had a more than good enough defence of his own to shut down Toney's right hand counters.

I agree with the verdict fellows....Thanks for the opinions!
When thinking of this match-up, that's what I thought Toney would have success with against Valdez...Rolling with Valdez's right then countering with his own...That is what he does best..then working the body of Valdez in close. He has made a living doing that against good fighters.
It's my opinion, but I think that Toney had the skill set to nullify Valdez's offense.
BUT....He lacked the consistancy to do it...When you look at Toney the middleweight, he fought very sporadically...Sometimes only flurrying 30-40 seconds a round....He was a fight judge's nightmare. That will not cut it with a fighter like Valdez. Crisp punching and a superior, more even effort will win this fight for Valdez.... Still very close.

Valdez UD. Toney´s MW- title reign is very overrated, he struggled with so many different mediocre fighters like Tiberi, Sosa, etc., Valdez on the other side showed against fighters like Monzon, Briscoe, etc. that he´s very hard to beat, IMO he would slightly outpoint the passive Toney...
