If Carlos Monzon never existed, Valdez would be remembered as the best MW of the 70s. Too complete a fighter for Roldan to deal with.
Poor Roldan. He never gets the soft easy matches on the forum. He needs a less formidable title holder for him to get his hand raised.
Valdez by ko in 3 or 4.....there's a yawning chasm of class between the two of them. Valdez's ko would have shown both Hearns and Hagler how it's done IMO.
Yeah, poor Roldan is right...and only one of them has real credentials in this thread...."the one who ko'ed Briscoe vs the one who decked Hagler"....well, uh, Valdez did ko Briscoe.
Too bad Roldan couldn't have had opportunites like say Julian Jackson did----Cardamone for the title. Geez, I'm not sure I'd take Cardamone over Teddy Mann. What do you think of Roldan in there with guys like these; Scypion. Hamsho. Sibson. Jackson. Trinidad. DLH. Sturm. Barkley. Leonard. Taylor. Joppy.
this will be a tough fight as Hagler found Roldan nearly impossible to hit and Roldan found Hagler nearly impossible to miss Still, I think Valdez takes him out
what are you talking about? Valdez never even fought ROldan and you're talking like the fight took place while Tommy DID fight him and stopped Roldan in four from what I've seen, there's not a lot of difference between Valdez and Roldan based off of what I saw him do in the Hagler fight at least be realistic in your assessment. your bias speaks volumes
people like you make too big a deal out of Bennie Briscoe. what was so great about him? he wasnt especially fast or skilled. IMO he was the middleweight division's version of Jerry Quarry - middle of the pack who couldnt win the big one even in his prime years your man move like an ice berg so beating him really wasnt a big deal as for Valdez, he has more credentials than Roldan but seeing as how this is Roldan of the Hagler fight and without an injured eye, this would probably be a major test for your champ. Too bad they didnt actually fight so you could brag about an actual win
