well, considering what we actually see of him, and without relying on your erroneous testimony of him, you really dont have a choice
how do you arrive at this conclusion or is it merely wishful thinking? from what I saw on film, Roldan did a lot better with Hagler than Briscoe I'll say Bennie had the longevity but in an actual contest between Briscoe and Roldan? Even David Love, a good club fighter on various winning and losing streaks, trained by Angelo Dundee, had an easy time with your man
You have to be the least informed poster in this forum. Bennie Briscoe went 10 rounds losing on points to Hagler, but kept him on the back foot and had Marv's respect the whole way...Roldan got off to a fast start, got the benefit of a bogus "knockdown",...then Hagler beats him up the rest of the way and stops him in the 10th. You are woefully ignorant concerning Valdez, Briscoe, Monzon, and a host of other fighters. Your opinions fall under the term "erroneous", btw....willful ignorance, but to you, ignorance is bliss. Now I'm done with you...
I seen the same footage; it's just that I dont let my bias color my opinions like yourself hagler, just 25. did not have to stay close and why should he when he'd just been butted early in the fight? see how little you actually know when I point these things out? your own WILLFUL ignorance prevents you from stating the obvious, that even a one eyed Roldan was giving Hagler "the fight of his life" according to the HBO panel of Tompkins, Merchant and Leonard but you wouldnt care to make that known would you? any more than you would repeat comments by Merchant after round nine "I gave him (Roldan that round)" I gave Roldan several rounds as well. I know you wouldnt publicly acknowledge this but then, you have no integrity as for why Roldan didnt make it to the distance, my guess is that his severely injured eye had something to do with it, something Briscoe didnt have to deal with
Briscoe was 8 years older and had fought way more difficult competition than Roldan was in their respective fights vs. Hagler, so it's no surprise that Briscoe didn't do as well against Hagler...although Briscoe didn't even do all that badly.
the originator of this post says "The Roldan of the Hagler fight" so that's what I'm going by. this is not the Roldan of the Teddy Mann fight or any other I already admitted that Briscoe had the longevity but longevity and performance in key fights are two different things both failed in title fights. Roldan was far better in his first title fight than his second or third Roldan looked horrible especially on defense, in the hearns fight even tho he almost took his head off as for the Nunn fight what can you say? Nunn was slick, quick, and made Roldan sick the Roldan of the Hagler fight is an entirely different fighter being very difficult to hit in the head and to avoid
Roldan would be a bit too straightforward here i think. Valdez was at his best against such a fighter. I think he'd stop Roldan in a handful of rounds tho i don't think it would be completely one way traffic.
that's quite the fabrication considering the way he kept making Hagler miss. the way Hagler looked coming back to his tool after round two, he had the look of a a boxer who was being schooled to the point he left the impression he forgot how to fight
