Yeah those that rate Martinez that highly should really reconsider this topic... As for me, who thinks he's way overrated, I can safely pick Valdez to destroy Chavez. :good
:O What the hell is this thread?! Rodrigo Valdez was a great fighter, Chavez Jr is a B CLASS FIGHTER. So I don't want to hear it anymore. Even with his 'punchers chance' against Martinez, he couldn't capitalise on it. Martinez worked like crazy during this fight also and completely dominated Chavez. Rodrigo Valdez vs Sergio Martinez is a more even match up.
The class "B" fighter had your boy down in the last round. Maybe if it were a 15 rounder there would have been even more drama. I explained all this already. Valdez would have brutally beat up Jr., like Martinez should have done. For that matter, Valdez would have been too much for Martinez, IMO.
This thread should point out how utterly weak the once great middleweight division is now...from the champion on down. And it has been like this for years now.
Who's rules with regard to the weigh in does this take place under? With same day weigh-ins they wouldn't likely be the same weight class. Nonetheless, Valdes kicks Jr's ass, as he would likely beat Martinez. An in-shape Kevin Finnegan would beat Chavez Jr...and I'm not joking.
I think this matchup is similar to Valdez against Bobby Cassidy and plays out the same way. For those who haven't seen it: [yt]N40VecIgZ3s[/yt] [yt]coextTtFTmA[/yt] [yt]D_V341AYZyQ[/yt]
