Carlos Monzon knocked out champion Nino Nenvenuti in round 12 in Rome, Italy on Nov 7 1970 to win the World Middleweight Title. Again Monzon stopped Nino in Monte Carlo, Monaco to defend his title by TKO 3, then would reel off 13 more title defenses before he announced his retirement in 1977. Rodrigo Valdez knocked out Bennie Briscoe to win the vacant WBC middleweight title in 7 rounds in Monte Carlo, Monaco., after 4 title defenses he lost the WBC title to Monzon by unanimous decision in Monte Carlo on June 26 1976. Then met Monzon again on July 30 1977 in Carlos 14th tile defense, only to lose to Monzon by unanimous 15 round decision.Nino was afine boxer as evidenced in his wars against Emile Griffith but his chin was suspect. Rodrigo by TKO 14.
I just picked Kalambay to beat Valdez in the other thread....because he’d be too slippery.....but I think he knocks out Nino Benvenuti
