It seems like undefeated hw contender David Rodriguez is willing to face former hw champ James toney as early as in late August! I do think that this would be a viable fight, the winner being in an ideal position to challenge Arreola for an eliminator slot within the WBC. I do hope that Toney takes this route...

Great news. I hope team Toney makes this fight happen.

This would land Toney back to top-10, in most of major sanctioning bodies

If Toney really wants a shot, he needs to take this.

Until boxing can generate money for James, or that flow dries up, it will take major bucks to get him in.

DaveRod vs Arreola is a money fight if they ever get around to it. Especially while Dave still has his 0.

He wants to face a legend and get shot to prestigious IBA Heavyweight championship.

He is tough guy and props to him if they make this fight happen.

    However Toney will destroy him

If Rodriguez is indeed serious, he surely deserves a lot of respect for doing what no other contender is willing to do.

Toney is not going to beat any young hungry heavyweight any time soon, his days are past him now, I know some of you still think there is hope, Keep this in mind, Samuel Peter out boxed him, and dropped him with a jab.

Good fight. This will tell us a lot about what Toney has left and what Rodriguez has to offer.

and will all this nonsense about "no other contender" wanting to fight Toney stop?

I'm guessing one of the biggest reasons a top contender isn't fighting Toney is because the fight would be a complete sideshow.

**The IBF refused to sanction Wlad vs Toney. I mean Wlad has fought some scrubs but fighting a 40 year old with no real big wins as of late would be a farce.

Fighting a future hall of famer is no more of a side show than chosing to fight an over the hill Rahman or an overweight Arreola or nearly an untested Chisora... end of the story
