el Nino, David Rodriguez is saying he is tired of the K2 picking on smallish HW's and novice fighters who have lost when stepping up in class.

I agree with that to a certain degree. I would rather the K2 fought untested HW's with a puncher's chance than guys who we all know are doomed to begin with.

Giving an unproven guy like Rodriguez a title shot is hardly unprecedented. As it stands the K2 offered Chisora the opportunity 2 yrs ago when he had almost no name recognition and had wins not much better if at all than Rodriguez. And most if not all dominant HW champs have fought fringe contenders with padded records before. The precedent also transcends each weight class.

Zeferino Promotions has recently signed Roberto Alcazar (of DelaHoya fame), and Rafael Garcia as his chief second, (of Mayweather fame). It appears that DLH MIGHT be interested in el Nino, and may be looking to get him in with a HUGE name for his May fight. This would be absolutely huge if Mayweather/DLH would get him on the Cotto vs Maywehater UC. I've always thought that would be his breakout fight, and with these additions, it very well may be.

Here's hoping DLH gets together with Zef and gets Rodriguez a big name. Stiverne has been inactive, as have so many other fringe contenders, and the May5 event could be a big enough purse to tease these passive HWs into the ring with the thunderous puncher. Crossing my fingers once again.:think

Robert Davis had wins over Greg Page, Charles Shufford, Sherwin Williams, Harold Sconiers and Marcus Johnson before they became journeymen. His L's were ALL to promising HW's. Even Audely at the time was considered a future great.

Bispo was a decent fighter who was managed poorly early in his career by being handfed. But he later went on to become a name on an up n coming HW's resume.

Manny Pucheta is a tough domestic level fighter. He's rarely smoked like the way Rodriguez pasted him.

Rick Dyer was a huge upncoming HW, well known in the midwest as a potential prospect and future title challenge. Power in both hands with a stiff jab. Early comparisons to Valuev at the time.....but Rodriguez ENDED his run.

Marcus McGee is a tough journeyman, and Rodriguez clowned him for 8 rounds with 2 broken bones in his R hand. He essentially beat him on body punching and jabbing alone. He's also known as a gatekeeper for the big names.

Guys like Byron Polley and Matt Greer are journeyman David has fought recently when his mgmt failed to get bigger names for his fights. Both these guys were fall backs.

After the Magee fight Rodriguez tried to make a run at the title then, but his mgmt failed him. He has since changed. Now, he's on yet another KO streak, and was hoping to make a big fight in March, but the injuries he sustained on New Years set that back two month. But now, with the addition of these big names to his team. it's looking more and more like Zef is working with a big promoter, and judging by the names, it seems Oscar has notcied David's hunger.
Over the last 4 yrs David has lobbied and called out massive names in the sport, but he doesn't have the fan base outside el Paso to get these guys on board. But with the help of GBP......he's almost guaranteed a big fight in May.....and look out people......this guys got a viscous body attack and a solid R hand. He's also not afraid of taking a shot.

If he wins this big fight, I clearly see him being fed to a Klitschko before Christmas......or will it be the other way around.......Corrie Sanders style.:deal

At least Chisora beat Sexton and Williams and at the time was one of the best from Britain (and still is...maybe #1 or #2)

Rodriguez has faced nobody and is far down on America's list:hi:

And neither of those guys is tested outside the local level. There was a time when Owen Beck was a tested and promising HW. Unlike Sexton. Williams is either hot or cold. Even at his best, he could flop to a nobody. Of course when he was hot, the sky was the limit. And we all know which version of Williams Chisora has beaten.:deal

Even at this point....without a proper step up fight on his resume, Rodriguez getting a title shot would not be unprecedented. MANY titlists have given spoonfed challengers title shots.

And even though guys like Rahman, Arreola, and Briggs have all had some decent named opponents on thier records, thier overall records reflect about the same light as Rodriguez'.:rofl

GBP offered a fight with Rodriguez in 09......Denis turned it down. Rodriguez went on to call out Boystov, but due to injuries, it never materialized.

Denis could very well be his opponent for May now that it seems GBP is working with both fighter. And judging by the way Denis handled the LONE R hand that Ding landed, and how Ding was mostly effective going to the body.....my money would be on Rodriguez KO3-4.

And believe me....Boystov knows this as well, and that's why he'll likely turn down this fight with Rodriguez IMO. :hi:

That would be great for both fighters, well for Boytsov at least since he is far more likely to win, hope it happens.

How bout an AV bet if it does. The liklihood of this fight happening is good since Boystov is on the list of potential/hopeful opponents for his May fight. And being that Boystov is promoted by GBP in the US, and has been stepping along slowly in his comeback, perhaps Suaerland and GBP want his to leap forward rather than crawling.

The May/Cotto UC would bring the $$$ to make it happen, but that's still undecided, and I doubt that Denis would come to el Paso to get his **** pushed in for 30K, and I doubt el Nino would go to Germany for 20K only to get robbed by the judges or the ref. If this fight were to happen, it would be Oscar making it so.

But if it does go down......let's make the bet. 1 month or 6 moths or a year. You choose.:deal

Boytsov is still not with Sauerland. Universum (Absurdium) promotes him in Europe. If he was with Sauerland, he would have fought better opponents than he has done recently and most likely have some kind of belt (EBU, I/C or International) Or he would have already lost because of said better opponents :deal
