The heavyweight division has disappointed at world level for quite some time now. The emergence of David Haye appeared to shake up the division but it appears that his 'bark' is worse than his 'bite' and he's content to take the easier fights against Ruiz and Harrison than risk all against the Klitschko's. Whilst this has left us disappointed at least its served to give guys like Chisora and Harrison- that want the big fights a crack at the title. Chisora is the current British & Commonwelath Champion and Harrison is currently European Champion. I really feel that if these two guys are getting a shot then Martin Rogan should get one too. The real life Rocky was the innagural Prizefighter winner and he went onto to defeat Harrison and was the first man to ever stop Matt Skelton. He took the Commonwealth title that night but unfortunatley Skeltons European strap wasn't on the line. He's had an unlucky set back with two losses to Sam Sexton, the first Sexton fight should have been stopped when Sexton was staggering in the corner and Rogan was brave but foolhardy to take the second fight with the potential career ending kneck injury he had sustained. Rogan is back from injury now and looked impressive in his 1st round KO in Limerick on Saturday on the undercard of Willie Casey's European title win. The popular former Antrim hurler could pull a bigger crowd then either Harrison or Chisora and also has better credentials to earn the right to fight for a world title. Hopefully Frank Warren will be able to make it happen after the next round of heavyweight contests are out of the way.
Was a big Rogan fan until sexton fight 2, he looked very average and one paced in that fight Also if he went against one of the world champions he would be half killed and i dont want to see a brave man like him have to go through that
Rogan doesn't bring the T.V. figures like Audley does. But you never know if Audley were to do the unthinkable on Saturday he may want revenge against Rogan and it could be a voluntry. A lot of what if's though!!!
i thought rogan had left frank warren? anyways rogan vs sosnowski could be a classic if it happens, i like that fight.
Rogan 'the talk shitter quitter' is no way good enough to fight for a world title even in todays state of affairs.
in fairness mate the medical evidence was fairly conclusive, he had a severe injury and had to retire, if you watch the fight again you can see that he went out all guns blazing in the second last round as he knew he only had so much left in the tank. if that makes him a quitter then so be it but in my opinion taking a fight and knowing that you could end up in a wheelchair is very brave. his long lay off shows just how bad the injury was, why would a man of his age who is in such a hurry to get the big fights stay away for so long if the injury wasn't genuine???
Rogan is a more credible challenger than Harrison that's for sure, I say this as someone who likes Audley but Rogan has a win over him, he comes to fight and is not afraid of anyone. Whether he would stand a chance of actually winning is another question altogether.
