Here look I wasnt looking to state a mini United Nations debate here lads.

I can see why some of you don't personally view Tunney or Sullivan as Irish. Thats your own opinion. It doesn't mean they didn't have the right to regard themselves as Irish. Like I highlighted above there are loads of factors.

But since we're talking about it. I know plenty of lads born here and who have always lived here who would consider themselves Italian, German and Swedish (amongst other nationalities) without ever having lived in Italy, Germany or Sweden.

Its open to debate but the case can be made.

Personally I think it comes down to the individual. Sullivan considered himself Irish. Given all the other factors I think he was allowed assert his Irish status. Tunney I'm not so sure about but I have read plenty of reference to him regarding himself Irish. However, having done well for himself, by the end of his life he was a proud Irish-American because he had benefitted from the 'american dream'.

Anyway, lets start a real argument, Lewis -v- Sullivan. Who wins

*thats a joke by the way. Lets not get into that one!

You really have to go to the Irish area's in america to understand how important it is to them.

you will often bump into people from america that were born there and consider themselves irish.

However ive yet to meet an american that considers themselves english......

They are the same with Polish, German etc. I've never seen the sense in it, I think it comes from a lack of any "old" culture in America. You even get American Irish/ German/ Polish/ Italian mixes and they'll pick which one they like the best!!!

    Does it matter.

    Lewis 6ft"5 - 16 1/2 stone (ish)
    Sullivan 5ft"10 - 13 stone (ish)

I mean it can hardly be argued.

Clearly the Irishman beats the Candian :nut :bbb:lol:

My mums Irish and obviously my grandparents and aunts and uncles.... I consider myself to be Irish or at least half irish, but I think that nationaluity is very important to the Irish becauseof the history of the country.. I knew I was half irish when I was four or five but up until recently knew little about my dads family history. I have great pride towards my irish ancestory, its pretty strange but thats just the way it is.... I can do a wicked Irish accent too....

No such thing as an Irish accent Jeffro. We don't all sound the same. Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast all very different, not to mention the others inbetween. If you can do a 'generic' Irish accent then I can guarantee you it's about as good as Dick Van Dykes cockerney accent in Mary Poppins.

What is it with you Dutch ****ers and your bad impressions :good

Jeffro does a dublin accent? oh I am intrigued. are you coming over for the Dunne fight?

By the way, that McClaren thing is awful. I hate the **** and delighted to see him embarrased but it is too cringe worthy for me to look at. Thats just awful. What a ****.
