To clear things up...

I was in the ballroom with Dougs son and Doug was in the doorway between the bar and the ballroom talking with Magee. Magee was well drunk at this stage i think. I walked out to Doug and was going to mingle into the conversation when Magee spotted me coming towards them and said 'how much to a dander like that that there tough man?'

I hadnt a ****ing clue what EXACTLY he said so laughed it off and said 'id need to be in a few more fights like you, to get a dander (which i assumed was an aura or strut)'. His accent with his drunkness made me oblivious to what he was saying. I think he mimicked me somehow then and muttered something, i just stopped smiling and said nothing, he mentioned something about 'aye big man'

Maybe it then occured to him that i knew Doug, whom he had being talking to and he made light of the situation.

He said a few things and then i ended it by saying 'the biggest mistake you made was not finishing that Hatton when you had the chance'

It was a bit cheeky from me. Not sure if he heard if but that was more or less where things ended.

He didnt seem to like me, especially after his few pints and by the end of it i didnt really care for him either. He'd have ****ing decked me, dont get me wrong, i know that, but i would have prefered and was hoping for a chat with him and maybe get a photo rather than that ****.

If i met him sober im chat but otherwise id stay away from him, seems like a livewire...

On a sidenote, Matt Macklin is a gentleman.

 

Macklin is indeed a gent ... I have a great story like yours but can't share it gutted.

what i know of magee and its not as much as some of the other irish posters on here, is that he is one dangerous guy ...him and kevin ohara were drinking in a bar in the lower falls recently and got involved in a massive tear up with the local hoods in the area...magee put more than a few in hospital that day...you got of lightly then healy if you annoyed him

 

Magee is a grade A nutjob. I've a couple of stories about the boy that aren't fit for public consumption. No surprises he made something out of nothing with Healy. Wouldn't have been to big a shock if he'd ****ing chinned him either! And he does have a crazy ****ing look about him too. Not a very nice lad but a good trainer by the looks of it so far

 

Bambam, Im a few years older than Magee, but we went to the same school [ST Gabriels], fought for the same boxing club [Sacrad Heart], and grew up in the same district [Ardoyne], and I can tell you if he hadn't been such a meniac he could have been up there with the very best in the world. He had it all, fantastic boxing brain, power and sound chin with defence and he fought with a calmness that that was at odds with his persona outside the ring.But his downfall was his discipline in training[he would often smoke and drink right up until a week before a big fight]. Eamonn was in the Jamaica Inn [a bar in Ardoyne] drunk a week before the Hatton fight, that's why he went into his shell after a couple of rounds in that fight. A pity because he had Hatton's number.By the way he's not a friend, I give him a wide berth when I encounter him and advise anyone else here to do the same.
