Read a piece in the Irish News of the World today claiming Irish Taxi Driver and part time Olympic Champion slayer Martin Rogan is only two fight's away from a shot at WBA beltholder Ruslan Chagaev.
According to the article if Rogan beat's Matt Skelton then he will be penciled in for a fight with Lamon Brewster at the King's Hall Belfast and if he can win both of these bout's then Frank Warren will get him a shot at Chagaev.
Now i don't alway's believe these tabloids but if this is true this is big news for Rogan but first thing's first, Can he beat Skelton?

    Rogan quote on Skelton
"Everyone here want's to see an Irishman dethrone an Englishman, especially on the day we play England at Rugby, That's the short term aim, I want to challenge for a world Title. Skelton has had his chance, I'm hungrier than he is and I'm a better boxer too"

I still laugh at the headline

"Audley loses to Taxi Driver"

I wish Rogan the best in his quest for a world title. But he probably won't get through Skelton. Skelton's experience at European/World level will be telling.

It seems like he's treating the Skelton fight as a world title shot. I think Skelton will win but you never know....

I think Skelton wins comfortably. Regardless, Brewster would knock him out.

I think Rogan was as good as he can be against Audley.

I dont think that's enough to beat Skelton.

Skelton should win, but Rogan will be in his chest causing mayhem all night...good luck to the lad

i dont get how beating skelton (nopt ranked by the WBA) and beating Brewster (ranked 12) will get you a title shot.

i've just come from the khan hate thread... its an outrage martin rogan can get a title shot so early! he should do things the proper way and beat all the domestic talent first! he's only getting this shot because of his celebrity value of winning Prizefighter! He's a limited fighter anyway!

    and so on...

it is funny how rogan doesn't get any criticism yet khan gets loads. just a point tho - dont want this turning into yet another khan thread!

Brewster would definitely knock him out if by some chance he scrapes through this. Brewster is a vicious puncher and has faced the best, even though he's well past his best.
