I didn't watch the fight (i'm on nights) however I was wondering what you guys thought of this ? I watched the Witter fight and to me he quit. He didn't have that big of an injury he just knew he was getting beat. Did this happen to Rogan tonight ? Discuss:smoke
Same thing happened to Klitschko. Isn't their any possibility it just really ****ing hurts? Why doesn't this happen to Zab Judah or Nate Campbell or Golota? No, it happens to the harder guys who have tonnes of heart and a good chin, couldn't it be possible that they were injured? Also, I'm a witter fanboy so I'm going to be a little bias on this topic.
Here is what I think happened I thought Rogan turned his back to quit (ala No Mas) towards the end of the 6th, but the ref didn't realise, Rogan then thought about it and realised there would be a riot if he quit so fought on, went back to his corner at the end of the round and he pulled out (don't think he needed too much persuading) at the request of his trainer. There's my view and I expect to get slated for it. :good
I don't know if it was because of an injury or if Rogan just didn't want anymore, but after the ref broke them up a couple of times, Rogan did seem to turn away a bit.
He took a big shot early in the fight, in the second I think. I think that rocked him a lot, his head was gone a bit. He fought on on instinct for as long as he could but he couldnt keep it going.
Something I didn't make clear in my previous post was that Rogan was definitely hurt in the 6th and I'm not for one second implying he did a Duran in quitting simply because he was frustrated. I think he could have fought on but don't blame him for pulling out and the guy has more than proven his heart in previous fights.
It was a shame both fights ended the way they did. I like Rogan, but whilst Sexton is by far the better boxer he always seems to be a good couple of punchers away from being stopped.
I thought Rogan fought a stupid fight tactically, he came out whaling away. Sexton stayed calm. Rogan missed wildly at times. He looked utterly spent at the end of the 6th. He was hurt a couple of times. I thought he could have shown a bit more grace towards Sexton afterwards too, but whatever he says its now 2 nil to Sam.
I'm not sure if it was to quit, but he did turn his back and walk off (it was more than just a turning of back to avoid shots).
Good scrap though. At the end of the day though, how many all out Balboa type fights can a 37 year old man get involved in.
Theres no way Rogies arm was hurt. The guy just fought with the wrong tactics. Came out swinging from the first bell being urged on by the masses. He simply gassed out, & had nothing left. A poor, poor excuse from Rogie claiming afterwards that he came into the fight with the injury, funny how his 'arm injury' wasnt affecting him when he was rabbit punching Sextons head off! Rogies just bitter, but I can see why he didnt want to give Sexton credit afterwards, as these guys truly hate each other. This one was personal, & Sexton was just as bad saying how if the fight went on longer he would have gave Rogie a beating etc when he was pretty gassed out himself due to Rogies early bodywork... It was a great fight though as long as it lasted. To round it up, basically the younger guy with bad stamina outlasted the older guy with bad stamina! If Sexton could sort out his stamina issues he could go on to have a really good career. How does a man with poor stamina overcome this problem though? You people tell me!
Who knows Dunky. Rogan shows a lack of class full stop for me. His fairytale nice cabbie image has been exposed as a bit of a lie for me
and how is that so dan?i think you're just bitter because an english man was accused of being sectarian, fair play to sexton tonight though,he showed biggggggg heart
