Is Roger a great trainer, or just Floyds pad man? I've never really heard him give any technical or tactical advise.. Now, I'm just basing this on all the 24/7s and fights. Maybe in the gym without the cameras rolling is where he does his teaching. All I ever heard him say in the corner is 'Box that muthafuka'. If you know different, I'd like to hear some stories..

Well he obviously had a game plan for Floyd. He shoulda told Floyd to stay the hell of the ropes.....Floyd didn't need to do that but I think he was just making it more exciting.

to be honest, floyd probably only needs trainers now to kick his arse in maintaining discipline and intensity in training - and also from overtraining.

when training gets easy no matter what they throw at you, thats the time to reign in your fighter.

He certainly look like a pad man based on what we get to see/hear. I am sure it will be a different story when the cameras are not running.

Here, I'll show you the secret of Roger's Training - it's 2 sentences to be repeated ad nauseum.

    #1 "Box that Mother F__ker!"

#2 "Just keep doin' what you're doin!"

Then...if anyone questions your competence, merely say: "People don't know **** about Boxing!"

Watch the Judah fight, Castillo fight, Hernandez fight, and Oscar fight and I guarantee you will hear tactical advise.

Rogers health has obviously diminished his role in camps... NO doubt when he was capable Roger was the man in training. Floyd been doing this sh*t since he was a kid it's all ingrained by now. He has the style perfected peeps in camp just need to help him keep it sharp.

    Roger is an excellent trainer:

1 example: Floyd hurt his right hand against Zab, rather than tell Floyd to "box" like certain people above claim is all he does, or just move, he told him to throw to the body not the head, lessening the concussive impact to Floyd's hand and softening Zab up more and sapping his strength with the body attack.

Granted Roger may say things that seem simple and sound absurd, but it's always strategic.

Roger is a great trainer and has a great boxing brain. He trained fighters when he was actively boxing.

Always rated the mayweathers as great trainers. You dont bring through someone like floyd all the way through without knowing your stuff.

Think they themselves benefited from great trainers coming through by the looks of it.

Even the dad...although he messed hatton up. It was more hattons fault than it was the dads. He done a lot of things right with hatton. Had him looking fit. Told him not to fight pacman head on. Hatton didnt head the warning. Hattons temperament just wasnt a good fit for it. Was too used to doing what he done with billy graham who was a good trainer himself.

He trained oscar pretty successfully also. If he was no good i dont think guys like oscar would be anywhere near him. I agree with mayweather about roach getting all the accolades etc. Mayweather is every bit as good as him if not better. Roach is a great trainer but no better than that. Its just that roach is far more sensible. But as a trainer i think mayweathers the better of the two.
