Im very surprised by the amount of people that think Kov is going to win this. I see him losing convincingly. Ward is a technician in the ring.
I'm not sure if you noticed but.... so is Kovalev. So you have a great technician with no power vs. a very good technician with immense power, not sure why you see people picking Kovalev by KO as that much of a stretch.
Just because theyre both "technicians" doesnt mean theyre at the same level skillwise. I have no problem with your argument and the best part is we get to see whos right when these guys actually get in the ring. May the best man win.
I hope this fight won't dissapoint us, because everyone expects a huge battle, but sometimes it's not. Take a look at Mayweather vs Pac. , or Fury vs Klitschko , the last two fights considered as big as this one totally failed in my eyes to show something exciting.
A true 50/50 fight for me, Kov's boxing skills are underrated and unknown, hes not needed to use his boxing skill A game because hes been able to mostly rely on his power. Ward however reminds me of mayweather when the stakes are super high he just always seems to be able to find a way to win. The only thing that would surprise me in this fight is if Kov can outbox ward and make him look silly, If he catches ward with some big shots, hurt's him ko's him, i won't be surprised but if he out boxers him all night, i will be extremely surprised and impressed. I won't be surprised if ward outboxes him all night though.
I just watched a video that Roger said he picks "the Russian" but it isn't going to be an easy fight. Personally, I have no idea and absolutely can't wait.
Yeah, I've got to agree Kov is levels above Pavlik and WAY more dedicated to the sport. Distance control is where this fight is won and lost, I feel. If Ward can smother Kov's work and/or be just out of range often enough when Krusher unloads, Andre wins a tight UD. If Kov can throw while planting his lead leg (like GGG does too) then he will take away Ward's out of range comfort zone. That leaves Ward with the option of taking the fight inside and hoping he has the strength to do this, and the ref to let him use all his arsenal of 'tactics' - namely the dark art of boxing. People should not deride Ward for this, it's part of the game and maybe where he wins this. I don't think this fight will be easy on the eye.
