It is a myth that Oscar stopped jabbing. What really happened is Oscar stopped landing the jab and Floyd was countering him.

Look at the punch stats, the evidence is there. Oscar landed just 4 of his 77 jabs in the final 3 rounds of the fight (10-12) after landing 31 of 124 jabs the previous 4 rounds. (6-9) He averaged about 20 jabs a round the entire night.

In fact, Mayweather actually out-jabbed Oscar (69 to 40), and landing at a higher percentage. (240 thrown vs 246)

The real edge in the fight was power shots: Mayweather was an efficient 138 of 241 (57%) and Oscar was 82 of 341 (24%).

Competitive fight, but it should have been a clear UD win in my opinion.

If only Shane had someone like Nazeem Richardson in his corner to figure stuff like this out........ Oh well........

Thats why Cotto stands a good chance of beating him, he's got a good jab and he knows how to cut the ring off. IMO Cotto is a better version of the Oscar Floyd fought as he applies pressure better than Oscar does but has just as good a jab.

Unca Roger is 100% correct and it's the main reason why Mosley will get tooled.

One of the few times I've actually agreed with you. Out of Pac, Shane and Cotto. Cotto has the best chance for those exact reason you mentioned, I would also add he's the best body puncher of the three.

Hey Roger, why did Castillo beat Floyd then? JLC doesn't have a particularly good jab.

Also, this statement really is one in the eye for all the Floydette bitches on here who claim PBF's performance against Oscar was a domination or a schooling, which it clearly wasn't and old Roger has now confirmed that not even the Mayweather camp viewed it as such. :good

mosley and his corner will come up with a gameplan. mosley has a solid jab, he just doesn't use it that often. and as someone mentioned, you dont need need to a great jab to pressure mayweather. castillo gave maywewather two rough fights. as for the dlh fight. the main reason why dlh did so well against mayweather was the size advantage he had on mayweather. he had to have outweighed him by at least 10 lbs. that was also the reason why mayweather had problems with castillo

The fight shouldn't have been that close. What oscar did in that fight was try to steal it. Veteran move by throwing an airball flurry at the begining and end of every round. That is all and the sad thing is that it almost worked. In the first round oscar hit floyd with 8 or 9 left hooks to the body. His plan was to do this and make floyd drop his right hand to guard his body. Floyd kept his hand up and let oscar hit his body and at that point in the first round, oscar knew floyd wasn't gonna let him hit him with the left upstairs at all. So oscar went on to trying to steal the fight. If he would have added another airball flurry in the middle of those rounds, he would have completely stolen it.

Mayweather would beat Cotto by a comfortable UD, dont think he'd do the same kind of damage that Pacquiao did though.

Additionally, in my own personal opinion, Cotto was at his peak pre-margarito, meaning he was at his absolute best when he fought Mosley. Had he not controversially lost to Margarito, we may have seen him move on to bigger and better wins (against Pacquiao for instance, though I must add, he didn't look particularly bad in the fight...)

Roger is right when he says Floyd would beat Cotto, but hes right for the wrong reasoning. It's like saying Pavlik>Taylor>Hopkins, and we all know what happened to Pavlik when he met Hopkins. You'd be hard pushed to find many who think Cotto would give Mayweather more problems than Shane would.

I think Cotto would have a better chance to beat Floyd than Mosley but Floyd would still outsmart Cotto and box his way beautifully to a UD. You gotta know how to feint well which Cotto does and double and tripple up on a punch like Marquez did. Marquez only problem is he was hella slow and no power. If Cotto was as smart as Marquez or had a trainer with the right game-plan, he would have a VERY good chance of beating Floyd
