There have been other fighters with similar accomplishments but they didnt end up undefeated. To have accomplished what hes accomplished and made the money he has doing it theres no one else in history whos done that and walked away at the top. I think his place in boxing history speaks for itself. This content is protected RM: No, I havent spoken to him yet but Ill be seeing him this week. When a man makes a decision like this, its always for a reason. It certainly isnt because he needs the money. Most fighters that continue on boxing are doing so for the money, with Floyd hes set for life. This content is protected RM: I dont think so. He would have gotten the money had he wanted to go ahead with it. Oscar didnt have the pull in the situation that youd think. HBO has a lot of say where that money goes. That fight would have made a ton of money no matter what happened but it just goes to show you that this decision wasnt about the money. Floyd could have made millions in that fight and fights after it. It just goes to show you what this decision was about for him. This content is protected RM: I dont really see a reason for him to come back. You hear a lot of talk about how he needs to fight this guy or that guy. There will always be another guy people say will he needs to fight. Im really not sold on somebody out there standing out like hes an epic and historic match up, and as I said, my nephew certainly doesnt need the money. Thats not to say he wont come back, if he does choose to return, it will be because he misses the sport and wants to do it. Right now, I dont see the point in him fighting if its not truly what he wants to do in his heart. At the level Floyd is at it needs to be something he wants to do. This content is protected RM: I would not have told him to continue fighting if his heart wasnt in it. To fight, you need to have your heart in it, and you need that hunger and desire. I guess I would have told him that when most guys are fighting, theyre fighting for something, or fighting to prove something. Floyd honestly feels he doesnt have anything left to prove. At the end of the day, thats his decision to make for himself and when its all said and done hes going to retire as the only undefeated fighter to have won six titles in five different weight classes. Floyd is still young, and hes got other things he wants to do in life. Thats his decision, and his place in history is secure. This content is protected RM: I dont think there was anything about either of those fights that made him want to retire in specific. He made a lot of money in those fights, and he also made something like 20 million dollars with that wrestling ****. In training for the De La Hoya and Hatton fights he seemed just as enthusiastic as he ever was. I think that with the money he made last year and looking back on all that hes accomplished he realized that this isnt what he wants to do anymore. I dont think you can fault him for wanting to walk away on top. There have been a lot of great champions through out history. You had legends like Ray Robinson and Henry Armstrong, but they all stuck around too long and didnt know when to walk away. Floyd is one of a very few guys to retire undefeated and you have to respect that. This content is protected RM: No problem. Really, a lot of fighters at even an older age than Floyd take off a year or more between fights. Floyd could come straight out of retirement and fight anyone he wants if his heart was in it and there was true desire there. Youve got to remember that Ray Leonard came off a five year layoff and went straight into a fight with Marvin Hagler and he beat him. It wouldnt be a problem for Floyd to come back after some time straight into a big fight, providing thats what he wants to do. This content is protected RM: Alright then.
This interview lost all credibility here: RM: I dont think there was anything about either of those fights that made him want to retire in specific. He made a lot of money in those fights, and he also made something like 20 million dollars with that wrestling ****.
I was talking about the fact that even the McMahons said that they didnt pay floyd 20 mill lol im trying to say that Roger said in that interview what Floyd wanted him to say
I'm going to miss 24/7 аnd especially uncle Roger, who is on top of his game. Daaamn man, in fact it is the worst thing about PBF-ODLH II not happening
He will end up fighting Cotto. Otherwise his entire reputation will be ruined. He will wait for Cotto to become a superstar first though. Then try and use Cotto to cement his legacy.
We all know his ego and desire to make more money will bring him back to face Oscar, or maybe even Cotto...............I look for Floyd to return within 18 months. He seems to be about as resolute in his retirement decisions as a teenage girl picking out the boy she wants to take her to the big dance. LOL His retirement is about as permanent as Michael Jackson's marriage to Lisa Marie Presley.....and everyone knows his latest big retirement annoucement is fickle nonsense, and laughs about it...........
My question is, why the hell Floyd made Roger leave Forbes and pull this?:huh You gotta commend Roger's loyalty in the face of the lost opportunity. Retirement is another stunt, period. Just another coronating ACT in the P4P Charade show. Floyd made his peak 47 and never defended against 1 real WW:nono Walks away with Cotto vs Margarito on the table:huh :-( Never unified anything and truly ducked Spadafora and Margarito. Its pathetic:yep Walking away from whats clearly the largest andmost relevant challenge. But? "Floyd feel's he doesnt need to prove anything":rofl
McMahan is a ****in billionaire ... I don't think there was any problem with paying Floyd 20m ... those wrestlers make alot of money ... look at Hulk Hogan ... that dude who killed himself and his family live in a big ass mansion ... there's alot of cake to be thrown around with that fake ****. I'm sure that Floyd made 20m when it was all said and done ... he wouldn't have did it for anything less. Once you reach a certain plateau there's no looking back ... what does it look like for this man to average 25m for his last 2 fights and then take 1m to do some WWE ****. I would like to see some proof that McMahan said how much he paid Floyd.
What bull****! First they act like they didn't want to fight Cotto because it wasn't a so-called big money fight...now they say that he retired and it's not about the money...he doesn't need any more money, he's set for lifeatsch Now it's more clear than ever... Floyd ducked Cotto for nothing more than fear of losing.
ok fitz:roll: do you really believe that Floyd was paid 20 million?...you're so ****ing naive WWE already admitted that they didn't pay Floyd that much...check it bro! http://nodq.com/wwe/212092295.shtml
