Quote taken from the On The Ropes show, which was great. (Thanks for the constant great interviews, guys.)

But back to the quote, what do we think? Roger did also add that he meant his comment in context of the welterweight division.

Vernon was old when he lost to Mora, BTW Mayorga wasn't a bad WW.

Most people 'lol'd' at the thought of Ali beating Foreman, after Ali lost to both Frazier and Norton.

Actually he lost a controversial rematch with Mayorga and he cameback and avenged his loss to a younger, faster, former middleweight in Mora. Even a past his prime Forrest was dangerous. Prime Forrest would of walked right over Floyd. Floyd would have no choice, but to go for the ko.

I swear I've said for the longest time that Forrest would have beat PBF. And everytime I do, someone brings up Mayorga. If you think PBF would have took the punches Mayorga did, you're kidding yourself. Forrest jab would have neutralized PBF and Forrest would have opened up on him.

I always thought a guy with a good jab and right hand w/ a height advantage would give Mayweather hell. Basically Hearns when you think about. Vernon would give him fits too especially a prime one.

I don't think Vernon would have beat him but he maybe would have given him trouble.

If prime Vernon was fighting at WW right now, he would be the man I'd favor over Floyd.

Glad to see a few people are on the ball with this one...Its silly to suggest Mayweather wouldnt have beaten Forrest when Mayorga did it twice.

Ricardo is almost a carbon copy of Mayweather in style, temperament and physical attributes.

As we saw with the Oscar fight- anybody who has a long jab- and a good straight right- and who has the tempermant and skill to fight a distance game- will give floyd trouble. the problem is , that everyone thinks the way you attack a guy like floyd- is to rush him. EVERY single fighter in the past few years has tried to bum rush him- to smother him- this just plays into the hands of a counter attacker. the thinking is that he s an ali- and to use a frazier like system against it. he s not like ali- he dosent open up when pressured- in fact he picks his spots more. so somebody who DOSENT engage - who is willing to keep it a chess match, boring, and not give him anything to counter- who has the length to shoot at him and not get countered- someone who can double jav and follow the jav with something nasty so they cant get countered- is a tough fight for floyd. Vernon Forrest, Paul Williams, these long tall guys would give floyd a hard time. guys who attack like baldomir, hatton, etc- they just give floyd chances to counter- which he may be the best at right now.

Exactly, Floyd would obviously force the fight against Viper, he'd EXACTLY pull a Mayorga and put immense pressure against Forrest and in fact Floyd would goad Forrest to land three 1-2's to his chin then come back and wing four haymakers in return and do a silly dance when Forrest slips

I'd favor him over every welter out there.
